Longhorn Organizing Strategies is a new, Texas-based grassroots organizing and voter mobilization firm that provides best-in-class canvassing, voter registration, and relational organizing services to progressive campaigns, committees and advocacy organizations throughout the Lone Star state. Role Description
Longhorn Organizing Strategies is seeking canvassers to participate in the organizations direct voter contact program. As a canvasser, you will travel door to door in the community to talk to voters. You will be responsible for having a certain number of conversations per day. If youre fired up and ready to organize in your community, we urge you to apply!
The location for this position will be: Dallas Area
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Must have the physical stamina to stand/walk for long periods (up to 6 hours per day)

Comfortable talking to voters at their homes about political candidates and issues

Flexibility to work weekdays and weekends

Ability to memorize and recite scripts and statements prepared and provided by Longhorn

Consistently meet daily and weekly conversation goals

Understand how to use a cell-phone to track and submit data

Ability to work within a team and independently based on employer requirements

Must be willing to work at least 3 7-hour shifts per week
Preferred

Previous paid or volunteer canvass or fundraising experience (including door-to-door sales work, Census outreach work, etc.)

Previous experience with data entry and reporting functions

Telemarketing or retail marketing experience

Social service or organizing experience
- There is no formal education requirement for this position
Compensation
This is an hourly position with a rate of $20 per hour.
