Shell Recharge Solutions is seeking a Senior Sales Engineer!
Shell Recharge Solutions' business focuses on delivering turnkey EV charging solutions to strategic and large key accounts in North America. Shell Recharge Solutions generates business with those accounts – utilities, cities, fleets, and commercial customers – in part through the submission of customer-generated Requests for Proposals (RFPs). Upon RFP award, Shell Recharge Solutions then ensures the success of that EV Charging project by delivering seamless, best-in-class solutions.
The Senior Sales Engineer (SE) will be part of Shell Recharge Solutions’ sales organization and will be a key asset in supporting the business development growth efforts. You will be customer-focused and a strategic thinking. As a key member of the commercial team, the Senior SE provides an authoritative level of technical consulting during the sales process, understanding the details of the Shell Recharge Solutions' product offering, as well as interfacing directly with the customer for technical questions. Typical pre-sale activities include gathering, understanding, and analyzing customers’ business and technical requirements, then formulating responses for customer quotation. The Senior SE is a subject matter expert on Shell Recharge Solutions' business model, value proposition and technical solutions, including high quality technical demonstrations. Post sales activities include supporting Shell Recharge Solutions' operations team to deliver projects successfully, including ensuring that the solutions deployed align with the initial project scope. The position requires initiative, willingness to travel, on the spot creative thinking, common sense, and good judgment.
What you’ll do:
- Holding a higher level of experience and responsibility as compared to Sales Engineers, the Senior Sales Engineer is responsible for architecting the more complex and/or larger portfolio solutions, including possible trials and proof-of-concepts, leading internally within the SE team, and leading cross-functionally with product and operations to scale the SRS business.
- Works to achieve expertise in software, hardware, and services quickly, to develop supporting written and recorded materials for internal education and intra-Shell audiences
- Assists the Sales Engineering Team Leader in technology and product management interface, including program intake committee and technology road mapping exercises.
- Ability to present a technical perspective on the company’s sales offering
- Demonstrates complex solution selling abilities and effective customer communications (RFP responses, proposal development, customer interactions, product demos)
- Able to present highly technical concepts in a clear and easily understood manner to internal and external audiences of varying technical backgrounds
- Collaborate with the cross functional teams to obtain all facets of information in support of sales opportunities (e.g., SW Development, Product Management, Infrastructure Solutions, Operations, Customer Experience).
- Advanced problem-solving skills and ability to methodically understand and resolve complex issues. Provide alternative solutions as required to meet unique use cases
- Demonstrate ability to focus ambiguous customer needs into specific, deliverable requirements. Ability to extract hidden or unrealized customer requirements
- Assist with development of customer presentation tools and technical resources
- Provide company representation in industry forums, conferences, and related events
- Ability to influence several cross-functional departments to gain alignment and to drive design solutions with the appropriate organizations.
- Develop and implement product and application training programs for Sales organization
- Excellent analytical, written, verbal communications, and documentation skills. Ability to independently develop relationships and communicate with high level internal and external technical and nontechnical staff.
- Coordinates hand off to Project Management, Commissioning and Operations team.
- Communicate any required product enhancements to the product teams, in context of company strategy and customer advocacy.
- Must be a highly accountable self-starter with good organizational and analytical skills and ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
What We’re Looking For:
Basic Qualifications
- 6 years’ professional level technical/engineering experience.
- 2-3 years industry experience in solutions development.
- 3 years of professional experience using Excel (data analytics, creating spreadsheets, etc.)
- A bachelor’s degree in an engineering or technology field, or equivalent technical experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Engineering, Economics, Business Administration
- Experience with software-as-a-service, energy management; edge device hardware; cellular networks; OCPP/OCPI
- Domain expertise in clean energy, electric transportation, and sustainability
- Strong interpersonal skills are essential.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated project and/or product management skills.
- Ability to work across functional areas within a company to achieve win-win result.
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
