What are the responsibilities and job description for the Apprentice Lineman Class C position at Shelton Energy Solutions?
Summary
Apprentice Lineman Class C is an entry level position who is training to become a Lineman. As an Apprentice Lineman Class C, you will assist Lineman in the construction, maintenance and repair of power, transmission, and distribution lines, both overhead and underground while utilizing line trucks, booms, lifts, and wire pulling equipment.
All duties as performed as a Groundman plus:- Can work on single phase tangent poles and single phase dead-end and angle poles.
- Apprentices may assist with the installation and removal of structures within close proximity of energized primary conductors under direct supervision of Lineman A and/or higher classification.
- Willingness to learn new skills and abilities by participating in continuing education activities.
- Perform other duties as required and/or assigned.
- Follow safety standards and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned by leadership.
Qualifications
- Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum 1 year experience as an Apprentice with Shelton Energy Solutions or verifiable source.
- Completion of OSHA 10 hr Safety Training Program within 90 days.
- CDL class A license preferred; must acquire CDL beginners permit within 60 days.
- Possession of climbing tools preferred.
- Ability to read and understand minimum approach distances.
- Desire to learn and commitment to doing quality work while putting safety first.

Working conditions/Physical Requirements/Travel
Working Conditions
Work sites are outdoors in potentially extreme weather conditions and possible confined space.- All worksite safety instructions are written and spoken in English; must be fluent in English.
- Work includes prolonged and repeated: lifting (including overhead, up to 50lbs); standing; climbing; kneeling; reaching and feeling; crouching and crawling.
- Work is performed within the “red zone” of heavy equipment.
- Working safely requires quick/accurate hand-eye coordination and the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
Requirements
Pass pre-employment, random, post-accident, and reasonable suspicion drug screens.- Provide valid US work authorization documents for E-Verify.
- Satisfactory results of pre-employment background check results.
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record is required.
- Pre-employment medical fit-for-duty test; hold/obtain DOT medical card.
- Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as dictated by position.

Direct Reports/Reporting Structure
This position has no direct reports. The Apprentice Lineman Class C reports to the Foreman.
Salary : $36,600 - $46,300
