What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lab Technician (part-time) position at Shennon Biotechnologies?
We are a well-funded early-stage startup based in SF that has created a proprietary single cell platform for the development of more effective cancer immunotherapies. We are looking for a part-time laboratory technician to join our interdisciplinary team. The primary responsibility of this position will be to assist with the fabrication and testing of microfluidic devices, as well as general maintenance and upkeep of our lab. The successful candidate will work closely with our research team to support ongoing projects and ensure the smooth operation of the laboratory.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the design and fabrication of microfluidic devices using techniques such as photolithography, soft lithography, and other relevant methods.
- Prepare and maintain cleanroom and BSL-2 environments, including proper handling and disposal of chemicals and materials.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of experiments, procedures, and results.
- Collaborate with researchers to develop and optimize fabrication protocols.
- Ensure compliance with all safety and regulatory guidelines.
- Assist with inventory management and ordering of lab supplies and materials
- Assist with regular lab maintenance, including making media for cell culture and performing weekly lab maintenance tasks.
- Participate in regular lab meetings and provide updates on progress.
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing an associates, bachelor’s, or master’s degree in an engineering or biology discipline
- Experience with microfabrication techniques and cleanroom protocols is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with microfluidic device fabrication is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
Job Type: Part-time position with flexible hours, approximately 10-15 hours per week. Schedule to be determined based on mutual agreement.
