Supervisor NOC

Job Summary:
Responsible for providing network and systems surveillance for all Shentel networks, as well as incident management support for the Network Operation Center (NOC). Responsibilities include planning and supervising the installation and maintenance of Network Operation Center (NOC) equipment, evaluating trouble reports and determining the proper course of action. This position has primary responsibility for conducting daily performance feedback and making recommendations for hiring and firing employees.

Qualification Requirements:
a. Education: High school diploma required; advanced technical degrees preferred.
b. Experience Level: Minimum 5 years’ experience working in NOC environment.
c. Experience developing operational processes and procedures.
d. Experience training and mentoring team members. Supervisory experience preferred.
e. Special Requirements: Telephony and IP systems based on various transport protocols, copper, fiber, TDM, SONET, Metro Ethernet and wireless.
f. Must be able to resolve issue through resolution.
g. Must be able to work in a 365 day operation with non-standard work shifts.
h. Applicant must have effective oral and written communication skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to organize and prioritize work.
i. Experience with Microsoft Office products including Word and Visio.

j. Licenses or Certifications:
Knowledge of:
a. Skills: SNMP and TL1 network management protocols
b. Experience with MySQL or Microsoft Access databases and Microsoft Excel
c. Basic network troubleshooting skills including but not limited to ping and traceroute.
d. Basic understanding of LAN/WAN networks
e. Cisco IOS configuration experience preferred.
f. Working knowledge of OSI model.
