Qualifications:
- High school diploma/GED and six (6) months of survey experience (and/or the equivalent of additional training or courses in the surveying field)
- Experience with Leica Robotic and GPS equipment preferred
- Experience with VDOT transportation surveying a plus
- Achieve a thorough understanding of survey standards, procedures and equipment.
- AutoCAD experience a plus
- Must be able to carry up to 50 lb. of materials and equipment over all types of terrain.
- All-weather year-round outdoor work environment, with seasonal extreme heat index and wind-chill factors
- Other physical attributes of the job, such as hiking, climbing, vegetation management (chopping, cutting, hammering, sawing, etc.)
- Strong listening and verbal communication skills
- Must have a valid driver's license and an excellent driving record
- Must pass pre-employment physical and drug screen
Responsibilities:
- Preform Field Crew work for the construction and acceptance of Highways, Roads & Bridge projects.
- Preform instrument operation of robotic instrument, differential level, GPS and data controller associated in the collection of field survey data
- Establishes and sets point for construction stakeout projects (sanitary, storm, water, duct banks, C&G, retaining walls, sound walls, bridges, and Right of Way monuments, etc.)
- Assists in the daily maintenance and up-keep of survey equipment, supplies, and vehicle.
- Instrument Operator will work in a two-person team under the direction of a Survey Party Chief.
