The Production Planner will be responsible for the planning, scheduling, and assisting in the execution of large orders throughout the Ramsey Production Facility.  This role will also oversee planning and scheduling make to stock items.  The individual in this role will need to evaluate material availability and available production capacity to determine a product availability date that can be relayed to the large order bid team.

What you will be responsible for:

  • Assist in managing large order production and shipping schedules throughout all production value streams
  • Plan and schedule multiple Make to Stock (MTS) items through the production value streams to ensure maximum performance and minimum delay.
  • Identify capacity constraints and work with Value Stream Supervisor’s to re-prioritize the production schedule to meet the needs of the business.
  • Provide lead time and availability dates on large order requests
  • Ability to gather and manipulate data in order to plan future production capacity needs
  • Ability to trouble shoot issues related to the production scheduling and capacity constraints
  • Utilize production planning tools to review day to day needs as well as future capacity requirements.
  • Oversee the responsibility of large order metrics
  • Document SOP’s as required related to the processes associated with the Production Planning role
  • Support the Operations Coordinator on an as needed basis
  • Encourages and facilitates the incorporation of Lean objectives in the production planning processes
  • Works effectively with all other departments to meet deadlines, objectives and ship dates
  • Help develop metrics, monitor performance, and improve performance against set goals
  • All other duties as assigned by manager

What will you bring to the table (Skills/Experience Required):

  • Bachelor of Science in operations, manufacturing, or business or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3 years’ experience with developing and implementing production planning processes
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to make sound decisions within established guidelines
  • An understanding of lean manufacturing principles
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to demonstrate flexible and efficient time management and to appropriately prioritize workload based upon organization or departmental needs
  • Detail-oriented and have excellent follow-through skills
  • Organized and results driven with good problem solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills both verbally and written
  • Strong computer skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills dealing with all levels of the organization.
  • Proficient in the use of personal computers, internet and Microsoft Office suite of software including Word, Excel and Outlook (or related e-mail system)

Special Job Requirements:

  • Must be available for long, varied work hours including weekends at times to ensure coverage for a 24/7 shift operation.
  • May require ground travel to other company facilities within local metropolitan area
  • Long-distance or air travel as needed – not to exceed 10% travel
