Description

SHR Talent is partnering with a publishing client in Nashville, TN in its search for a Marketing Manager in the Nashville, TN or Grand Rapids, MI area. The Marketing Manager is a strategic and tactical leader responsible for developing integrated marketing plans and advancing the company’s most important digital marketing channels, and will play a pivotal role in the company’s publishing program, partnering with the scholarly community in providing resources. As the Marketing Manager, you will work in a stimulating environment that provides opportunity for teamwork and interaction with company employees in various departments as well as authors, agents, and publishing partners, and will be required to travel occasionally during peak seasons. The Marketing Manager role offers a remote work schedule, health insurance, 401K, retirement plan, and relocation pay!

The ideal candidate for the Marketing Manager role is someone who is an innovator, familiar with Christian scholarship, possessing a solid understanding of Bible, theology, and relevant influential authors, an excellent communicator who inspires trust and confidence in internal and external stakeholders, and an established digital marketer capable of handling multiple projects with confidence and passion at all different stages in the marketing cycle. As the Marketing Manager, you should continuously strive to make the marketing program more effective, delivering a strong return on investment. To be successful in this role, the Marketing Manager must be someone who is able to handle multiple projects simultaneously, has excellent interpersonal skills and organizational skills, able to participate in a team process, able to effectively communicate and network with scholars and key academic contacts, and possess the ability to hit budgets and forecast expenses.

Essential Job Functions

  • Develop detailed marketing campaigns for new titles and manage budgets for assigned titles
  • Direct titling strategy, cover design, creative collateral, endorsements, consumer messaging, metadata for new titles
  • Execute marketing strategy for key digital learning platforms and partners
  • Execute the strategy for core marketing channels with a focus on email and automation
  • Coordinate marketing efforts with publicists on selected front list campaigns
  • Lead display and promotion at select events or conferences, supporting authors and product sales
  • Participate in sales conferences, imprint strategy meetings, and potential external partner presentations
  • Assist supervisor in tracking metrics of marketing tactics, providing monthly reporting to department leaders
  • Analyze marketing campaigns and overall efforts, making recommendations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Publicity, or equivalent experience, preferred
  • Graduate-level work in biblical studies, theology, or related field, or MBA-level course work, preferred
  • 5 years’ experience in marketing, publicity, or other communications field
  • Background in academic publishing, Christian publishing, or marketing and sales, preferred
  • Working knowledge of Christian higher education and scholarship, preferred
  • Experience with digital strategy, email marketing, social media, and direct marketing
  • Expert understanding of core marketing functions and skills
  • Sales experience with higher education markets
  • Strong proficiency in Word and Excel
