Overview
We have an exciting opportunity for a Director of Human Resources to join our team in Juarez, Mexico. In this position you will lead up the Human Resources team and provide strategic and operational human resources support for Shure Manufacturing Facilities in Juarez, Mexico. Shure has been manufacturing products in Juarez for over 30 years and we are about to open a second location in Juarez. This position will be a key role in supporting our continued growth and helping to promote Shure as an employer of choice.
Responsibilities
- Participates in the formulation and implementation of local Human Resource policies and programs for the plant.
- Advises and coaches managers and Associates on the interpretation of HR policies and programs, making or recommending decisions consistent with the Company’s culture and business objectives.
- Designs and administers programs, procedures, and plans related to associate relations activities.
- In partnership with management, administers performance management processes, including disciplinary action.
- Investigates employee relations issues of moderate to high complexity to bring to resolution, including investigations resulting from claims of sexual harassment or discrimination.
- Represent plant needs to the Corporate HR Division and support recruiting activities and employment functions.
- Participates in Corporate HR Divisional Projects as a team member or team leader. Leads planning of plant HR projects and initiatives
- Consults with Associates and Managers to address root causes, attempting to achieve resolution with a systematic approach or to proactively contribute to a positive, productive work environment.
- Ensures that legal requirements are met related to HR and management practices to minimize Company’s exposure to liability.
- Represents the Company at times in the disposition of issues resulting from claims, charges, or investigations.
- Supports managers in the area of performance management, including the development of written progressive disciplinary action, development plans and improvement plans.
- Reviews termination decisions and may participate in or conduct termination meetings.
- Supports recruiting activities and employment functions such as new hire orientation, interviewing, and turnover reporting.
- Responsible for plant security
- May manage the work efforts of supervisors/individual contributors with responsibility for hiring, firing, performance appraisals, and pay reviews.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field. Graduate coursework is desirable.
- Minimum of 10 years of wide-ranging human resource experience with responsibility for results, including costs and methods.
- Must have a strong understanding of Mexican Labor Law
- Bilingual – must be fluent in both English and Spanish
- Demonstrated ability of working on issues of diverse scope such as complex associate relations issues where analysis of the situation requires evaluation of a variety of factors, including an understanding of current business trends.
- Demonstrated experience in determining the best use of resources to meet goals of assignments received in the form of objectives.
- Able to lead cooperative efforts among members of project teams.
- Able to follow processes and operational policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
- Project management experience, involving multiple projects as a project leader or subject matter expert.
- Ability to resolve issues on a timely basis
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Good business acumen and be able to appropriately handle confidential information
- Able to work effectively with little direction.
- Must have ability to utilize personal computer and software in developing spreadsheets and documents: Microsoft Word, Excel, & PowerPoint
- Experience with preparing and adhering to a budget
- Able to provide guidance to subordinates within the latitude of established company policies.
- Experience with advising subordinates how to meet schedules and/or resolve technical problems.
- Responsible for the hiring, firing, and performance review of staff.
