POSITION SUMMARY:
This position has primary responsibility to increase SICK safety sales by providing safety application support to SICK’s customers within the United States and Canada. Emphasis is on implementation of SICK safety services and solutions to achieve revenue growth.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform risk assessments and develop safety concepts at customer’s location & complete documentation / reports as necessary.
- Write safety related application software and validation plans for SICK’s safety solutions.
- Review OEM electrical schematics and determine where and how to tie-in the safety circuit.
- Provide on-site support during start-up / commissioning of SICK’s safety solutions for complex applications.
- Deliver safety education presentations to internal and external customers.
- Build and maintain strong and effective business relationships with customers to confirm needs around safety solution opportunities.
- Build upon safety competence and support North American sales of safety services.
- Stay abreast of relevant North American and International safety standards.
- Develop personal safety competence according to SICK House of Competence platform and regular attendance at Safety Application Specialists training as directed.
- Carry out other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned or required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
- SICK safety certification (acquired post hire)
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in safety field including implementation of safety circuit and safety controls and interpreting applicable standards.
Other Qualifications
- High degree of competence in safety standards, safety technology and the application of safety products and controls in compliance with relevant standards.
- Ability to interface with internal and external customers.
- Must have excellent verbal, presentation and written communication skills and the ability to interact with customers on a professional level.
- Must have good organization skills and the ability to document plans and schedule time efficiently while working independently from a home office.
- Prefer an understanding of Industrial Factory Automation Networks (Profitibus, ProfiNet, EthernetIP, etc) as well as PLC and Factory Automation control systems.
- Solid understanding of machine guarding strategies and experience selling / applying light curtains, area scanners, interlocks and safety control systems.
- Must have ability to read, interpret, and design electrical schematics.
- Participate and work closely with Market Product Management to identify target markets, technology trends, customer needs, regulatory requirements and competitor information.
- Ability to travel 25%-50%.
- Computer proficiency with Microsoft (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Internet applications
- Ability and willingness to work alternative schedules including nights and weekends.
- Legally permitted to work in the United States and/or Canada.
- Must have knowledge and in depth understanding of Industry 4.0/Internet of things (IoT).
