Siegwerk is looking for a Head of Regional Purchasing in Des Moines, IA for our Canadian and USA region.
Job Summary
Implement and monitor proper execution of CUSA FP (Canada & USA), Flex Pack Business Unit category strategies on local level, define corrective actions and escalate problems to next level
Negotiation of CUSA FP (Canada & USA), Flex Pack Business Unit purchasing agreements with suppliers for direct and indirect materials to ensure their reliable and safe supply at the most competitive prices according to Group materials specifications and standards and ensure contracting where appropriate
Developing and maintaining professional relationships with suppliers as well as ensuring close cooperation with Technology, internal counterparts and SCM management team
Assessment, auditing and monitoring of supplier performance according to agreements and defined standards to initiate and implement corrective actions in case of deviations. Establish list of preferred suppliers.
Adequate support and development of CUSA FP (Canada & USA), Flex Pack Business Unit junior buyers to carry out their activities.
Monitor and analyze relevant supplier market segments to identify opportunities within the marketplace
Apply best-practice processes, tools, and techniques, in accordance with purchasing governance, processes, standards, and procedures
Maintain preferred supplier lists, corporate contracts, and framework agreements
Maintain (master)data, provide reports & manage information/data as required
Plan, define and monitor proper execution of regional/divisional direct and indirect materials purchasing strategies within budgets and objectives and define and implement corrective actions in case of deviations
Analyze and evaluate market information, condense for sharing and reporting and adapt regional purchasing strategies and sourcing activities to latest market developments
Manage, coach and steer the purchasing staff in sub-region including core skills, quality and overall development.
Be an active member of the CUSA FP (Canada & USA), Flex Pack Business Unit Management Team and make sufficient contribution as required, responsible for and representing the Purchasing function, participate in general management decision, initiate and challenge ideas during discussion
Prepare and manage monthly BYTE Savings Report, Payment Term Improvement Report, Single Source Improvement Report, and key feedstock/RM and cost trends/impact reports for the sub-region.
Develop key raw material strategies for the sub-region that is aligned to Regional and Global purchasing policy and get approval for each from Regional Purchasing Head and global lead buyers.
Lead cross-functional Purchasing and Technical team (BYTE) to achieve the saving target, keep an effective relationship with B/U, TD, AD, SCM and the other peers.
Liaising effectively with Technology, TSD, GIN and BU’s in the search of innovative, new and alternative direct and indirect materials
Liaising effectively with Global Lead Buyers and local buyers at site level, where required
Development and implementation of CUSA (Canada & USA), Flex Pack Business Unit/ global purchasing strategies and objectives
Development of strategic sourcing opportunities
Implementation the purchasing governance processes in compliance approach
Proactively demonstrate effective teamwork with regional sourcing team in Mexico and South America to ensure full and up to date awareness of possibilities on alternatives for the sub-region.
Qualifications:
• Min 8 years’ experience in Purchasing
• Good general purchasing background, combined with solid SCM skills
• Mature negotiation and analytical skills
• Mature communication, and interpersonal skills
• Solid commitment to continuous improvement and positive ‘can-do’ attitude
• Proficiency in the use of relevant IT applications
• English is required language, Spanish is also a preference
• Some understanding of key RM as well as industry
• University degree in business or chemistry
• Advance degree (MBA) strongly preferred
• Basic people management competencies
