Sigma. Inc. is looking for a Legal Clerk to work onsite with our team located in Malden, MA.
This is with Commonwealth of MA and Division of Administrative Law Appeals. Will be required to work onsite at 14 Summer Street.
Description:
Provide support to DALA magistrates hearing cases on Massachusetts public employee retirement, the wage and hour act, and professional licensing. The clerk will also attend hearings.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Work with the magistrates to prepare for hearings and draft decisions.
Attend hearings and take notes.
Use computer databases (e.g., Westlaw) to search and retrieve records and research as necessary.
Assist in drafting detailed findings and rulings.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Applicants must possess strong writing, communication, and organizational skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and Word; strong attention to detail; and the ability to work independently.
Education: Law degree (J.D.) required. No law license required, but it is a plus
Language:
Ability to read and interpret legal documents, statutes, regulations, and cases. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before employees of the organization.
