What You'll Do
The Assistant Nurse Manager will help manage and lead the nursing team members at satellite locations with the supervision of the Director of Nursing. In addition, the Assistant Nurse Manager coordinates a program of Care Coordination within which nursing team members implement comprehensive patient care and education. The Assistant Nurse Manager may provide direct patient care when training staff and as resource staff nurse to support the nursing team. Everything is done in the context of whole-person care with a team model. The Assistant Nurse Manager will assist with the hiring process of LPNs and MAs for the satellite clinics.
- Manages Medical Assistants at satellite clinics, including completing performance appraisals and approving timecards and PTO requests
- Serves as point person for Care Coordination Program to offer comprehensive patient education and nursing care via partnership between the healthcare team and the patient to assist the patient in reaching health-related goals
- Assists with the hiring process for direct reports as needed and trains new hires
- Assists with scheduling for Medical Assistants at all clinic sites
- Provides initial training for all new nursing staff hires at satellite clinics utilizing competency checklist
- Provides support and training when a gap in knowledge or training is identified among nursing staff
- Serves as resource staff nurse to support nursing staff model for all Siloam Health clinics when staff nurse need arises
- May provide nursing support directly for one specific provider but also for the entire team of providers along with the other nurses when training staff or volunteers, or when more nursing support is needed at various clinic locations.
- Duties could include triage, in-office procedures and testing, medication and immunization administration, phlebotomy, and/or patient education.
- Delivers care in a manner that preserves patient autonomy, dignity, and rights
- Collaborates with other members of the Care Team by making phone calls on behalf of the provider to the patient, pharmacy or another physician’s offices
- Oversees the medical supply inventory and purchasing process at all clinic locations
- Oversees the immunization program, including vaccine storage and monitoring, emergency vaccine storage, and completes application for VFC as needed at satellite clinic sites
- Assists with planning and training for future satellite clinic(s)
- Works with the Volunteer Coordinator to train and manage the involvement of volunteer nursing staff
- Participates in on-going quality improvement (QI) activities within the roles defined above.
- Assists in leading nurse meetings and providing continuing education for the nurse team
- Works with Director of Nursing to improve nursing processes in clinic and EMR workflow for nursing staff
- Works with Director of Nursing in recruitment efforts when nurse staffing needs arise
- Serves as a leader and point-person for the nursing team, especially when the Director of Nursing is not available
Education and Experience
- Current RN or LPN licensure
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience required
- Experience at Siloam Health preferred
- CPR certification is required
- Experience with an EMR (electronic medical record) system as well as MS Office
- Experience in case management preferred
