Ketamine Clinic RN
Assists the Clinic Lead RN in the following duties which will focus mainly on working in and supporting the inpatient and outpatient Ketamine Treatment Program and related patient care. These duties can extend to the ECT service when needed. Maintains competence in Ketamine and ECT in order to achieve high quality patient care and personnel satisfaction. Upholds Ketamine and ECT Nursing Standards of Care for every patient. Assists Clinic Lead RN in providing direction and expertise within the area of Ketamine nursing on a local and national level. Functions as Ketamine and ECT RN and educator.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in nursing
Qualifications
Experience with psychiatric and addiction populations.
Experience with Interventional Psychiatry (ketamine infusion and ECT)
Professional Certification
Licensure as a Registered Nurse in Connecticut
Certification in Addictions or Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing Preferred
Experience
At least two years’ experience as a psychiatric nurse preferred.
Research experience preferred.
ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES
Assists ensuring compliance with Ketamine and ECT Clinic regulations.
Completes essential clinical documentation, checklists, and procedure records for Ketamine and ECT Clinic operations.
Assists with management of staffing and patient care legality.
Collaborate with Medical Staff regarding productivity factors for unit. i.e census, trends, and costs.
Assists as needed in:
Problem solving. Identification of learning needs.
Orientation. Professional growth and staff development.
Assists with conducting interviews and evaluations for Ketamine and ECT nursing staff while assists with overseeing Quality Improvement for both Ketamine and ECT.
CLINICAL PRACTICE
Functions in the Ketamine and ECT clinic as a Prep Nurse, Treatment or Recovery Nurse as needed.
Schedules patients/staff according to acuity.
Assists with development and implement patient care standards in collaboration with health professionals.
Consults and assists nurses and other staff to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and coordinate the care for Ketamine and ECT patients, families, care givers.
Continuous monitoring of processes and outcomes of care for patients receiving Ketamine and ECT as an inpatient and outpatient.
TEACHER/EDUCATOR/LEADERSHIP
Guide teaching plans for patients and families/caregivers.
Identify learning opportunities and support staff development.
Assists with serving as a resource person for Ketamine and ECT for nursing schools/educational programs.
Assists with serving as an Ketamine and ECT nurse educator at Silver Hill Hospital.
Participate in relevant committees / project teams and collaborate with Research staff and physicians, participating in discussions.
PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Demonstrate and encourage professional growth.
Serve as an example to the Ketamine and ECT nurses by obtaining Certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse.
Pursue ongoing education and certifications.
Stay updated on current Ketamine and ECT nursing issues.
Participates in Nurses Associations such as APNA, CNA ANA.
Obtain certification in ACLS, ECT and Ketamine.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
