Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and detailed oriented Accountant to join our team at Simard Automotive/Point S. The Accountant will play a critical role in managing the financial operations of the company, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting and maintaining compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Financial Report and Analysis:
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
- Provide management with financial insights and recommendations based on the analysis.
- General Ledger Management:
- Maintain and Reconcile general ledger accounts.
- Ensure accurate recording of financial transactions and adjustments.
- Accounts Payable and Receivable:
- Oversee the processing of accounts payable and receivable transactions.
- Monitor and manage the aging of accounts receivable
- Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Assist in the development of the annual budget and forecasts.
- Monitor actual performance against budgeted figures and provide variance analysis.
- Tax Compliance:
- Prepare and file various tax returns including tire tax, quarterly payroll tax filings and other applicable filings.
- Stay updated on tax regulations and implement necessary changes in compliance.
- Financial Controls and Compliance:
- Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Ensure compliance with accounting principles, practices and relevant law and regulations.
- Financial Software and Systems:
- Utilize accounting software and systems to streamline financial processes.
- Identify opportunities for system improvements and efficiencies.
- Audit Support:
- Conduct or Assist in the preparation of documentation for external audits.
- Collaborate with auditors and address any audit findings.
- Cash Flow Management:
- Monitor cash flow and report on the status.
- Recommend actions to optimize cash flow.
- Financial Planning and Analysis:
- Provide financial analysis for strategic decision making.
- Evaluate potential investments and business opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Alignment with Company’s Core Values
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance or 7 years’ experience as an Accountant in the automotive industry.
- CPA certification preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proficient in accounting software (Quickbooks, Excel).
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, regulations and best practices.
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Possess a valid drivers license (Issued from state where employed)
- Read, write and speak the English language fluently.
- Ability to conduct yourself tactfully, under pressure. ( with Customers, or Team Members)
- Able to motivate people by using Accountability principles, and leading by example.
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to manage stress, and tense situations
- Proficient in QuickBooks and other accounting systems.
- Willingness to live and work in Fairbanks, Alaska.
