The Payroll Specialist is responsible for all levels of payroll processing and payroll support and will ensure accuracy and confidentiality of Simmons' payroll data. Simmons Bank payroll runs twice a month for over 3,200 employees in multiple states currently using Workday payroll and timekeeping software.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Process hourly and salaried payroll including time card exceptions, bonus awards, special earnings and deductions according to established procedures.
- Audit and make corrections to imported data related to time sheets, paid time off, leave of absence, bonuses to ensure accuracy.
- Update payroll system associate data related to salary changes, associate personal data, tax elections, direct deposits, etc.
- Research, explain and resolve associate payroll and overall HR questions via email and phone.
- Assist payroll manager with quarter-end and year-end processing.
- Ensure all departmental documents and activities are performed in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures as applicable to this position, including completion of required compliance training.
- Assist with state and federal tax payments.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees
- Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor's Degree preferred
- 2 - 3 years of payroll experience preferred
- Payroll Tax experience preferred
- Experience in Workday Payroll preferred
Computer Skills
- MS Office programs
