GENERAL SUMMARY/BASIC PURPOSE OF JOB: The Staff Accountant is a key team member in the monthly close process and assists in the preparation, issuance, and analysis of monthly financial reports. This self-driven, detail oriented professional must possess strong problem-solving skills, be well organized, and can work well under pressure.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: Reports to: Assistant Controller Provides Supervision to: none
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES 1.0 Responsible for month-end expense review and accruals for assigned categories 2.0 Assist in month-end close process by gathering data, updating analysis reports, and recording journal entries as required 3.0 Assist with the preparation of monthly financial reporting schedules 4.0 Assist in year-end external audit and annual tax return preparation by gathering supporting documents and preparing schedules 5.0 Prepare monthly balance sheet account and bank reconciliations and research/resolve any reconciling items on a timely basis 6.0 Assist in daily reconciliation of cash and posting from the Patient Accounting System to the bank accounts and General Ledger. 7.0 Special projects as needed and additional duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
MINIMUM EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or related field. 2 years’ experience in general accounting, month-end close, and reconciliations
MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE: Intermediate to Advanced knowledge of Excel Excellent computer skills (MS Office suite including Word, Excel, and Power Point) Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Must be detail oriented with ability to multi-task and maintain a strong focus on quality, accuracy and attention to detail Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously Willingness and eagerness to learn and take on new tasks
