- Job Summary
The Provider Compensation Analyst supports the development, implementation and administration of the employed Provider compensation program at Skagit Regional Health, an integrated healthcare system. This position plays a key role in the development, analysis, administration, and maintenance of the organization's provider compensation program.
Essential Functions
- Actively participate in the development, analysis, and implementation of the Skagit Regional Health employed Provider Compensation program, working closely with the Senior Provider Compensation Analyst and under their guidance.
- Collaborate with the SRC Provider Compensation Committee and external consulting groups as directed by the Senior Provider Compensation Analyst, providing analytical support as required.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of a comprehensive operating manual for the SRC Provider Compensation plan.
- Contribute to maintaining an accurate and up-to-date database to assess current provider compensation and modeling future compensation plans.
- Assist in review of market surveys, emerging industry trends, and other data to ensure the program remains competitive.
- Support the preparation and maintenance of financial reports, including monthly provider compensation reports, FTE (Full-Time Equivalent) reports, in addition to other scheduled and ad hoc reports.
- Provide assistance in preparing a monthly actual to budget variance analysis identifying causes of monthly variances and reporting findings to the month end review team. Maintain effective working relationships with IT, Business Office, Finance, and HR teams to support the coordination of provider compensation.
- Actively support internal process improvement efforts, including enhancing technological capabilities and identifying efficiencies within the provider compensation program.
- Assist in managing required provider accruals and conduct monthly reconciliations of related balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance with financial standards.
- Assist in the development of the Provider Compensation portion of the SRH annual budget.
- Actively engage in continuous education and self-improvement, staying informed about industry trends, especially in Provider Compensation.
- Adhere to all Skagit Regional Health policies and procedures, uphold Universal Attributes, and maintain high service standards.
- Handle sensitive and confidential information with utmost discretion.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field required.
Experience/Training
- A minimum of five (2) years’ experience in compensation, payroll, accounting, or related fields.
- Preference given to experience in provider compensation in a health system environment.
- Demonstrated proficiency in various analytical techniques, data analysis, problem-solving, and attention to detail.
- Practical knowledge of medical group operations and experience with process improvement, decision support, industry benchmarking and the development of statistical and cost/benefit analysis highly preferred.
License/Certifications
- None required.
Other Skills
- Proficient in interpreting healthcare data and presenting sophisticated analysis effectively. Knowledge of healthcare coding conventions such as ICD-10, CPT & HCPCS and reimbursement methodologies including provider based billing.
- Basic knowledge of statistical analysis techniques and the ability to conduct variance analysis.
- Proficiency in software applications, including Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, with basic knowledge in query writing and relational databases.
- Strong problem-solving and analytic skills with a solution-oriented mindset.
- Familiarity with externally available health care datasets to use for comparative analysis (i.e. MGMA, AMGA, IHI, DOH, CMS).
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communications skills.
- Must be solution oriented and possess strong problem solving and analytic skills.
- Ability to work independently and excel in a collaborative environment.
