Position Summary

The Opportunity : Skagit Valley College (SVC) is accepting applications for a WorkFirst / Open Doors Program Coordinator position within the Workforce Grants office This position will be housed in Workforce Grants and will be communicating with student's during their enrollment process into the WorkFirst Program and during their time utilizing funding.

Some students may be receiving benefits from DSHS, are experiencing homelessness, are considered low income, or need additional assistance;

it is important for the person in this position to have a student centered philosophy students are the top priority.

This is a, 12-month classified position, working 100% full-time, which is 40 hours per week. The incumbent will work Monday through Friday.

This position reports to the Workforce Grants Manager and will assist with compliance related activities associated with WorkFirst and Open Doors.

The position will work closely with Workforce Grants staff, BEdA Navigators, and Academic Advising staff.

The Location : Skagit Valley College is on the traditional and unceded territories of the Coast Salish People’s, especially on Swinomish Indian Tribal Community, Upper Skagit Indian Tribe, Samish Indian Nation, Nooksack Indian Tribe, and Sauk-Suiattle Indian Tribe.

Located in a geographically diverse region between the dynamic metropolitan hubs of Seattle and Vancouver, BC, SVC is never far from world-class outdoor recreation, urban arts scenes, and local cultural events.

Duties and Responsibilities

WorkFirst Compliance

  • Assist with the completion, tracking, and documenting of all attendance for WorkFirst students for compliance with SBCTC.
  • This includes Vocational Education students, ELA students (by communicating with their instructors for attendance tracking), and Basic Education students;
  • Create and fill out a weekly spreadsheet to track attendance that has been turned in, any excused / unexcused absences, and document these instances in eJAS;
  • Communicate with current and future WorkFirst students regarding attendance and reminders when it is due;
  • Hold workshops to assist students with the completion of their attendance hours when necessary;
  • Assist in the creation of the quarterly attendance forms within FormStack quarterly for each student;
  • Assist WorkFirst students with general WorkFirst questions;
  • Assist WorkFirst students at the front desk with completion of necessary documents : Service Requests, Applications, etc;
  • Other duties as assigned associated with WorkFirst Compliance.

Open Doors Compliance

  • Assist with the collection and tracking of attendance for Open Doors compliance;
  • Assist with the completion, tracking, and documenting of all attendance for Open Doors students for compliance with OSPI and the contracted school districts.
  • This includes students in any of the four pathways GED, High School Completion, College, and Career (by communicating with their instructors for attendance tracking);
  • Serve as a back-up support for the front desk when needed to serve students;
  • Assist Open Doors students with general Open Doors questions; and
  • Assist in monitoring in-person & zoom Study Hall Hours w / students to collect face-to-face hours;
  • Other duties as assigned related to Open Doors compliance.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications :

  • High School Diploma or equivalent;
  • Experience working with multicultural and low-income students / clients;
  • Experience using Microsoft platforms to track information;
  • Experience assisting with projects and tracking mechanisms.

Desired Qualifications :

  • Associate's Degree in Psychology, Human Services, Social Services, Education, or related field;
  • Prior experience working in a community college environment, particularly Student Services;
  • Experience with ctcLink and TargetX systems, or similar CRM platform experience.

Salary is based on Range 40, Step A, $3,477 per month with periodic increments to $4,517 per month. Salary p lacement is typically made at the starting salary for the range .

Placement higher in the range may be considered for qualifications and experience. Salary and benefits are subject to change in accordance with legislative mandates and collective bargaining agreements.

  • This position is eligible for overtime pay in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act.
  • This is a union-represented position subject to a collective bargaining agreement.
