What are the responsibilities and job description for the PRINCIPAL CIVIL ENGINEER position at Skiltrek?
JOB DESCRIPTION
Skiltrek is looking for a Principal Civil Engineer to work for a large Engineering Service client here in Houston, Texas. This individual will be working on mid/large size projects with their Earthworks division where they will be working within Civil 3D. Majority of the work they will be doing for their clients will be Earthworks. They will perform studies on surveys for the draining systems, cut and fill, and erosion control. This person will also be tasked with running calculations for the hydrology studies. This Senior Civil Engineer will be assisting in the drawing layouts of the site, ditches, and roads associated with the project. They will also be interacting with the mapping group to get engrained in the surveys they performed. Additionally, this person will attend meetings with the Project Management group to stay up to date on the deliverables. Earthworks team: Local to Houston, 1 lead (vacant opening), 1 junior Civil Engineer and 2 drafters/designers. The rest of the team sits in Columbia (3 Engineers & 4 Designers). Earthwork is a growing group, and they want to continue to provide this service to their clients. This department is newer and smaller, so there is a lot of career growth potential for this individual to eventually manage this department.
There are typically two different projects that typically role in. There are projects that are associated with whatever larger scale gas processing facility- a client comes & we will do a full EPC of that project, includes an undeveloped piece of land they will grade out & put a facility on (greenfield). With that there is permitting associated with that and deliverables. Sometimes the client handles that, and they just need grading & drainage construction drawings. In that case a project comes in, and we are all on board. They will need to develop man hours of what grading package will look like for the client. Another type of project that may come in, would be where the Civil group gets their own project that has no association with other disciplines at the company. These are more unique. A client may reach out with an erosion issue at their site or need help with permitting. This individual would also take the reigns on that type of project as well.
Responsibilities:
