Location:
- Base - Devonshire Cultural Center, 4400 Greenwood St. Skokie, IL 60076
- Summer On Broadway Juniors (ages 8-10) & Seniors (ages 10-12) - Devonshire Cultural Center
- Teen Summer On Broadway (ages 12-17) – Based at Lincoln but sometimes at Devonshire Cultural Center
- Summer On Broadway Rising (ages 5-7) – Devonshire Cultural Center
The Summer on Broadway Specialist is responsible for the direct supervision of camp participants and operation and programming of the assigned camp speciality (acting, music and/or dance) Depending on specialist assignment in either acting, music or dance, this position will complete the responsibilities needed to implement the stage productions performed by the camp. Responsible for providing a safe, organized, age-appropriate camp experience for the participants enrolled in the program.
- Required to attend training sessions before camp begins as well as scheduled training sessions and meetings during the camp season.
- Responsible for supporting the preparation of weekly schedules, leadership of daily activities and maintenance of all necessary camp supplies and equipment.
- Plans age appropriate activities for campers relevant to the focus of the camp.
- Assures the safety of all campers by monitoring all camp activities throughout the program.
- Responsible for alerting the camp supervisor of any unsafe or suspicious situations that may arise, which may include taking immediate appropriate action to ensure the safety of program participants.
- Assures that the camp site is left in a clean and orderly condition at the conclusion of the camp day.
- Must be available to work the entire camp session(s).
- Responsible for maintaining accurate records and reports.
- Responsible for adhering to and maintaining ACA accreditation standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Hours: This position would participate in some pre-camp meetings in May to prepare production and camp daily planning. The position is required to attend individual camp trainings during the evenings, June 5-8 and All Camp Staff Training either 6/3 or 6/10: 10am-12:30pm. This position is also required be present during camp from June 12-August 4: 8:45am-4:15pm for camp evening performances either July 3 & August 1 (Teen Camp), July 5 & August 2 (Junior Camp) or July 6 & August 3 (Senior Camp) Additional work may be available in extended camp weeks from August 7-18 in Summer on Broadway Intensive Camp and Cultural Arts Camps. Responsible adult, at least 18 years of age. Prefer individual with a degree or
currently involved in college studies toward a degree in performing Arts or related field. Must
have prior experience leading campers or groups of school-aged children. Individual must have
instruction experience in at least one to two of the following areas: vocal music, dance or acting.
For candidates for Summer on Broadway Rising (ages 5-7) specialists, early childhood
experience will be preferred.Previous camp and theatre production experience is a plus. Those
hired as Dance Specialists, must be able to obtain an American Red Cross CPR/First Aid
Certification. Must possess excellent organizational, communication, presentation and customer
service skills.
