What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paralegal position at Skullcandy?
Essential responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the following:
General Responsibilities:
- Reports to the Director of Human Resources and Fractional General Counsel
- Follows instructions and performs other duties as may be assigned by General Counsel
- Performing legal research and analysis on various topics and issues
- Drafting, reviewing, and editing legal documents, such as contracts, pleadings, motions, affidavits, and letters
- Organizing and maintaining case files and document databases
- Managing and coordinating schedules, deadlines, and appointments
- Gathering and summarizing evidence and information for litigation
- Assisting General Counsel and outside-counsel attorneys with the preparation, prosecution, and filing of patent and trademark applications globally
- Docketing all incoming and outgoing correspondence, ensuring that all annuity payments are paid, and maintaining electronic files
- Communicating with internal business associates and outside counsel regarding intellectual property matters
- Preparing various reports for General Counsel and internal business managers
- Review of packaging, marketing and promotional materials
- Assisting General Counsel and Accounting Department with law firm and legal vendor billing
- Assisting Human Resources, Operations and Sales Departments on matters, as may be needed
Education and Work Experience Requirements:
- Must possess five 4-6 years of relevant paralegal experience with a law firm or corporation
- Experience with IP docketing software
- Bachelor's degree preferred
Special Qualifications (Training, Technical skills, etc.):
- Ability to perform detail-oriented work and to work independently with minimal supervision by General Counsel located remotely
- Self-motivated and ability to proactively assume responsibility over assignments
- Ability to handle multiple assignments while working well under pressure
- Excellent written, oral communication, and organizational skills
- Must be proficient with Internet, Email, and Microsoft programs
- Ability to professionally interface with all levels of management, internal business teams, and outside counsel
