What are the responsibilities and job description for the Media Supervisor position at Slingshot?
At Slingshot, this role will be a senior-level media account focal point and this person is required to be well versed in their clients’ businesses from a marketing and advertising perspective. They will be responsible for research, strategy, and overall budget management for multiple clients, as well as crafting presentations. This position will require someone who is already a leader but is also looking for an opportunity to grow.
This person would play an active role in client presentations, and should be prepared with strong and engaging presentation skills, potentially representing the media department in some new business meetings. This person should have hands-on experience in both traditional media as well as digital media, and expect to craft plans that encompass both disciplines with a platform-agnostic approach.
While leading is important, this person must also be someone who is willing to roll up their sleeves and get the job done…Slingshot is a team-oriented environment, and leaders play an active role in developing plans and presentations. This position is the perfect mix of strategy as well as execution. In addition to interfacing directly with clients, this person will interact cross-functionally internally with creative directors, account supervisors and directors, and VPs from multiple agency disciplines. This position will report to the VP of Media.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Lead in the creation and establishment of client media objectives, strategies and media plans
• Responsible for creating media specific documents such as objectives and strategies decks, media plans, RFPs, POVs, and other related functions
• Able to work independently, have excellent time management skills, and juggle multiple accounts or priorities
• Maintain media budgets and overall budget summaries for various accounts
• Interpret analytics and make recommendations for improved performance; facilitate dialogue with client and internal team to optimize future objectives
• Able to break down complex concepts and communicate them in a streamlined, visual, or easy-to-grasp manner
• Work closely with client and account/creative teams to create strategic media vision for client campaigns
• Negotiate buys, partnership contracts, content integration and sponsorships with vendors/publishers
• Provide creative analysis and recommendations when appropriate to improve media performance
• Maintain strong relationships with media vendors in order to not only understand their product offerings but also to identify new and creative opportunities
• Constantly research new market technologies and innovative solutions for clients
• Supervise junior planners
• Work with VP to monitor and manage profitability of Slingshot client media accounts
Background necessary:
• In-depth knowledge across all major media types (National TV/Radio, Spot TV/Radio, Print, OOH and Digital (including display, video, search, mobile/tablet)
• In-depth knowledge of third party ad-serving and exposure to other reporting/tracking resources, such as attribution modeling
• Skilled with using syndicated research tools and gleaning actionable insights (e.g., comScore, eTelmar, MRI or Simmons, Kantar Stradegy, etc.)
Qualifications:
• Experience: 3-7 years in media planning (both traditional and digital experience is preferred)
• Strong analysis and negotiating skills
• Strong presentation and speaking skills, comfortable presenting to senior level clients
• Excellent written communication skills
• Detail-oriented with strong attention to follow-through
• Computer skills required: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
