What are the responsibilities and job description for the Coder position at SLOCUM ORTHOPEDICS, P?
- Sort provider’s dictated notes from Sacred Heart Medical Center, McKenzie Willamette Hospital, Slocum Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) and Day Surgery at River Bend.
- Ascertain and assigns appropriate ICD-10 code and modifier, if needed, to clinic procedures.
- Ascertain and assigns appropriate CPT code and modifier and fees to surgical procedures.
- Research and provide surgery estimates
- Assist physicians with surgery assist fees and appropriate codes.
- Work with physicians to resolve coding issues.
- Work with Patient Registration to process new patients, new problem accounts on patients seen through the ER.
- Work with Account Representatives to assign proper OHP codes through Line Finder.
- Assist Surgery Scheduling and prior authorization with CPT and ICD codes.
- Assist Transcription in coding STAT dictation ASAP.
- Verify all E/M charges are accurate and all services are documented and billed out correctly.
- Change any codes to be more specific if needed.
- Communicate back to the physicians of any corrections or continued issues.
- Participate in educational activities
