The L&D Specialist will help define, build, and deliver learning & development strategies for SmileDirectClub. This role focuses on training coordination, designing, and delivering learning programs globally, including new hires and legacy team members. You will play a significant role in the learning and development of a successful and effective L&D team to support SmileDirectClub in the pursuit of becoming a top tier place to work.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for implementing, administering, and facilitating high quality training programs for technical and non-technical learning programs globally including but not limited to: new hire training, eLearnings, virtual instructor-led programs, and in-person instructor-led learning solutions deliver the training needs identified by business stakeholders across multiple team/working shifts. This may require travel onsite to office locations as needed and requested.
- Design, plan, organize, or direct training programs, including new hire training, for team members at various levels and across multiple work streams.
- Identify, create, and continuously improve learning content using an array of creative approaches that inspire and engage learners to drive operational excellence and career/workforce progression.
- Present information using a variety of instructional techniques or formats, such as role playing, simulations, team exercises, group discussions, videos, or lectures.
- Evaluate modes of training delivery, such as in-person or virtual to optimize training effectiveness, training costs, or environmental impacts.
- Full operational support services and program management for assigned lead on learning programs, including new hire training, simultaneously including communications, logistics, equipment, systems, and participants.
- Maintains records of training and development activities, attendance, and compliance requirements.
- Evaluates program effectiveness through data, analysis, insights, assessments, surveys, and other available feedback sources to determine continuous improvement opportunities and evaluation of training solutions to address development needs.
- Demonstrates the ability to handle multiple projects with quick deadlines.
- Obtain, organize, or develop training procedure manuals, guides, or course materials, such as handouts or visual materials.
- Ability to interpret data, including qualitative and quantitative methods, to inform decision making and actions.
- Takes initiative to be innovative and creative with solutions, training facilitation, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Stays current with L&D Industry trends and best practices to elevate learning offerings through the LMS and other tools.
- Acts as an LMS administrator responsible for customer support, program deployment, continuous improvement, and reporting.
- Develops and delivers multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences. For example, listens attentively and takes an interest. Keeps others well informed; conveys information clearly, concisely, and professionally when speaking or writing.

- Bachelor’s degree required
- Collaborative working style with the ability to work across a matrixed organization to be able to engage multiple stakeholders by driving to alignment and action.
- Experience working with an LMS, managing, and uploading content, or similar related systems.
- 2-4 years previous training or related professional experience preferred
- Excellent organizational and time management skills to be able to manage diverse projects and programs
- Professional communication and demeanor
- Ability to present ideas, concepts, issues, concerns, and questions in a well thought out, positive, and professional manner to stakeholders and team members
- Excellent presentation skills and ability to foster an atmosphere of teamwork
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Able to work independently and exercise strong judgment
