The Director of Reimbursement serves as market access and reimbursement subject matter expert within Healthcare Strategy & Reimbursement (HCSR), part of the Global Market Access team. Develop, execute and lead on reimbursement (coding, coverage and payment) strategy for current, new and/or expanded uses of Sports Medicine products and technologies; provide strategic reimbursement insight through landscape assessments for new product development and due diligence activities.

What will you be doing?

  • Develop, execute and lead on reimbursement (coding, coverage and payment) strategy for current, new and/or expanded uses of Sports Medicine products and technologies; provide strategic reimbursement insight through landscape assessments for new product development and due diligence activities.

  • Work in close collaboration with business in developing portfolio reimbursement analytics, assessment of payer coverage policies, and development of customer-facing reimbursement and value dossier tools. While this role will primarily support the Sports Medicine franchise, a small portion of time will likely be dedicated to Orthopedics, Trauma and ENT reimbursement support as needed.

  • Report to the business on reimbursement initiatives & challenges, supervise Sports Medicine Field Reimbursement Managers (FRMs), manage customer reimbursement efforts between Smith Nephew sales force, internal marketing staff, legal and compliance as it relates to franchise & reimbursement initiatives. Manage reimbursement call center dedicated to REGENETEN and sports medicine products/technologies, while providing OUS reimbursement expertise and assessments as needed on periodic basis.

  • Develop reimbursement, coding and coverage strategies to advance Sports Medicine technologies, including efforts to highlight clinical and economic value messages; work with Global Clinical Strategy and Health Economics teams in support of developing evidence strategies, value dossiers, reimbursement tool kits and other related materials. 25%

  • Research private and public payer coverage trends while identifying opportunities and challenges to secure appropriate reimbursement for Sports Medicine technologies. Provide recommendations to franchise on strategic direction based on both provider and payer reimbursement environment. 25%

  • Plan, develop, and implement revisions and enhancements to reimbursement programs, and create standard operating policies and procedures. Create or manage updating and developing of Sports Medicine coding guides, while ensuring the information is posted on S N reimbursement web site on timely basis. 25%

  • Develop innovative reimbursement support programs and tools for internal and external customers in close collaboration with marketing and sales. Responsibilities also include development of sales force reimbursement training materials. 25%

Location: Andover, MA, Fort Worth, TX, US - Field / Remote

What will you need to be successful?

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in relevant field (Public Policy, Health Economics, Medical Training), with a Masters degree preferred but not required
  • Minimum of 10 years of reimbursement experience, with a strong ability to communicate the benefits of our medical devices to patients, providers and payers. This may include several years of experience working at a managed care plan, and/or 7 years in the medical device industry working across multiple business functions.
  • Experience (1) working across multiple business functions to advance business objectives, (2) developing health care policies and reimbursement strategies that align with business objectives and (3) building and working with stakeholder coalitions to advanced business objectives
  • Ability to travel up to 10% travel
