What are the responsibilities and job description for the Benefits Coordinator position at Smith Transport, Inc.?
Great Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm
1. Manages the Human Resource function as illustrated by the following:
a. Coordinates the Company’s benefits and the communication of these benefits; enrolls and terms employees in the company’s benefits programs; completes and prepares insurance premium payment forms and remits same in a timely manner; monitors COBRA compliance.
b. Conducts the initial phase of the orientation program, i.e., communicates policies and benefits to new employees, obtains signatures on all required paperwork, creates new employee files.
c. Maintains, updates, and retains all documentation as required by the company as well as regulatory agencies; completes, or assists in the completion of forms and statements required by the company or government concerning benefits information, affirmative action, equal employment opportunity compliance, etc.
d. Responds to routine inquiries concerning benefits, personnel policies, employment openings, etc.
e. Administers the company’s personnel policies and makes provisions for and actively participates in the communication of same.
f. Administers and monitors the company’s compliance activities relating to laws, acts, or orders affecting the human resource management function.
g. Performs various duties relating to the payroll, i.e., prepares payroll change reports; prepares termination reports and forwards same to appropriate internal department.
h. Manages the company’s training programs; ensures that ongoing training opportunities are available for all employees.
i. Maintains an active awareness of employee morale and the attitudes of employee groups toward the company.
j. Maintains the HRIS system with the correct information.
