Technical Illustrator

Overview

SMS is in search of a talented Technical Illustrator within a reasonable distance to Tobyhanna Army Depot.  The Technical Illustrator will work closely with the Technical Writing team by preparing technical illustrations to support the development of operator and maintenance manuals in support of a variety of satellite communication systems.  The position allows for telework majority of the time, with occasional requirements for on-site support or team collaboration at Tobyhanna Army Depot.

Responsibilities

• Support the Technical Writing team by preparing technical illustrations to support the development of operator and maintenance manuals in support of a variety of satellite communication systems, both strategic and tactical, following and adhering to MIL-STD 40051-2D (tailored per customer) using a variety of software programs.
• Research parts and part numbers as required.
• Prepare Level 2 engineering drawing packages per Government specifications, with emphasis on Source Control Drawings supporting the use of commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) items
• Coordinate aspects of illustrations with Technical Writers – strong collaborative skills a must

Qualifications

Experience Required:

• Must be proficient in using Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, Visio, and Teams.
• Must be proficient with Corel Designer, AutoCAD, and Adobe Illustrator.
• 3 to 5 years of experience preferred.

Education:

• Technical School or College
• Former military experience a plus

Other Requirements:

• Must be able to pass a background investigation for entry to Tobyhanna Army Depot
• Must hold or be able to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance
• Be willing to travel within the US when required
