What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manager position at SNIFFERS Doggie Retreat & Training Center?

The role of Store Manager is to make sure that Sniffers runs smoothly on a day to day basis at the location where they are assigned. The Store Manager embodies SNIFFERS Purpose and Values to the internally to the entire organization and externally to the community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Work a minimum of 40 hours per week, which may include weekends and holidays. Be a point of contact for SNIFFERS staff at your location.
  • Be ON CALL every other week.
  • Manage daily operations at SNIFFERS facility where you are assigned.
  • Approve employee schedule changes and update timesheets when needed.
  • Enforce employee policies. Employees who break any employee policies must have their actions recorded in an Incident Report Form.
  • Authority to terminate an employee according to SNIFFERS termination process.
  • Provide positive and negative feedback to the employees you are overseeing (Client Care, Animal Care & Training staff) with regular employee performance reviews.
  • Enforce customer policies and respond to client inquiries, complaints, questions, etc that require management’s attention.
  • Take dogs to the vet when emergency medical treatment is needed. (Use Sniffers Credit Card for charges)
  • Accountable for quality control
  • Communicate with VP of Operations regularly about the status and needs of your location.
  • Conduct new employee onboarding process as directed by General Manager
  • Communicates daily with the General Manager of Client Care needs and issues
  • Conducts daily financial reconciliations on workdays when General Manager is not on site
  • Ensure the articulation of SNIFFERS desired image and position and assure consistent communication of image and position both internally and externally.
  • Responsible for all Client Care training needs and issues
  • Performance review every 6 months.
  • Marketing Responsibilities
  • Guaranteed monthly meetings with VP of Marketing.
  • Includes VP of Marketing on all email and communications on SNIFFERS behalf.
  • Coordinate monthly add-on specials at all SNIFFERS locations.
  • Manage Sniffers social media accounts. Ie. Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Linkdin, etc.
  • Contribute to sales and marketing ideas.
  • Research and attend marketing events.
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining positive community relationships on SNIFFERS behalf.
  • Responsible for distribution of SNIFFERS publications.
  • Uses the issued SNIFFERS email and phone for all SNIFFERS communications.
  • Any other responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • previous animal care, retail or customer service experience in a management role
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Proven understanding of industry standards and trends
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as department manual
  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to diffuse tense situations
  • Demonstrated ability to manage employees with varying shifts and responsibilities
  • Willingness to cover shifts and responsibilities of other employees as needed

The Store Manager position requires the ability to process information and merchandise through computer system and POS register system; the ability to communicate with associates and guests; the ability to read, count and write to accurately complete all documentation; the ability to freely access all areas of the facility; the ability to operate and use all equipment necessary to run the facility; the ability to climb ladders; and the ability to move or handle equipment throughout the facility generally weighing up to 50 pounds.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
