ABOUT THIS POSITION  

With more than 1900 CSA (Community Solar Array) memberships, questions are bound to come up. When they do, our CSA Program Manager is there for our customers to answer technical and billing questions, resolve system errors, and to provide solutions to any other inquiries that come their way. As we evolve to meet our CSA member needs the CSA  Program Manager will be committed to delivering the SunCommon Customer Experience: ensure easy and efficient engagement; provide above and  beyond service; and help each customer recognize the value of being part of something bigger through their relationship with SunCommon.  

This customer-focused function is equal parts relationship building and problem-solving –  with consistent and compassionate communication via phone and email to ensure each customer  is getting the most out of their solar system and/or CSA membership. Technical knowledge of  solar, an understanding of net-metering rules and utility specifics, and the ability to convey this  information to customers in a relatable way are at the foundation of this positions’ work. 

To meet the needs of our customers and our business, the CSA Program Manager will efficiently problem-solve through effective prioritization, proactive planning and diligent attention to detail. This role requires a high level of organizational and research skills,  as well as the ability to graciously handle multiple tasks simultaneously.   


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS  

The CSA Program manager is responsible for: 

  • Managing our CSA memberships across VT and NY with the goal of keeping all arrays  fully allocated. This includes bringing in new customers as needed to fill gaps in the arrays,  updating array allocations with the utility and coordinating with Finance when new  members are added, maintaining a pipeline of CSA customers, and collaborating with sales and marketing teams as needed to keep CSA memberships full. Responsible for  managing the Quarterly True ups for CSA Subscription Members. 
  • Communicate with CSA array owners as needed. 
  • Collaborate and Coordinate with the finance team to process true ups, monthly CSA member payments, annual dues and any other CSA related financial needs.
  • Collaborating with the IT department to address system errors and to continually improve  on the digital process. 
  • Manage the annual Distributed Energy Resource (DER) Provider Compliance reporting  with the NY State Department of Public Relations, to maintain our license to sell, install  and manage on site PV and CSA systems. 
  • Manage administration of NY ownership CSAs (and VT as needed):  
    • Annual renewal of general liability and insurance policies in coordination with  Pardees Insurance agency out of NY. 
    • Coordination of annual member’s dues and tax-related documents. 
  • CSA documentation and automation development. Clearly document all CSA  processes in an easy-to-follow guide so the CSA program has stability over the 10-20 year  life of the systems. Partner with IT and Customer Support for CSA automation. 
  • Collaboration with Sales and Marketing Teams. Effective communication across  departments is essential to the team’s success. Create and implement ways to support  both customers and colleagues through the solar sales process.

The ideal candidate for the CSA Program Manager will have:

  • Solar Smarts. Have knowledge of (or be able to quickly learn) solar equipment, CSA  memberships, net metering programs, and utility-specific information. Thorough understanding of SunCommon’s products, including deep technical knowledge of PV systems and Community Solar Arrays will contribute to success. 
  • Computer Proficiency. Comfort with Microsoft Office suite, Google, CRM, and data  management. Maintain accurate and timely records in Salesforce, Google Calendars and  other systems. Experience with Salesforce or NetSuite a plus. 
  • Bachelor’s degree, five years related business experience, or an equivalent  combination of education and experience.
