Job Description:
As a School Psychologist in our Special Education classroom, you will play a crucial role in supporting the academic, emotional, and behavioral needs of students with varying abilities, from Kindergarten to age 22. Your expertise will be invaluable in creating a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students in the caseload.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments to evaluate students' strengths and challenges.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and support staff to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
- Provide counseling and intervention services to address students' emotional and behavioral needs.
- Assist in crisis management situations and provide support during difficult times.
- Support the implementation of behavior intervention plans and positive behavior support strategies.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss student progress and determine appropriate interventions.
Qualifications:
- Master's or Doctoral degree in School Psychology from an accredited institution.
- Illinois State Board of Education certification as a School Psychologist.
- Experience in a Special Education setting is preferred, but we welcome enthusiastic entry-level candidates.
- Strong understanding of individualized assessment and intervention approaches.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for working with students with diverse abilities.
