Our client is seeking an HR Consultant for a six month contract. This role is responsible for managing HR-related special projects, spanning a broad range of policies, processes, programs, and initiatives, and offering direct HR generalist support to assigned business units. This is a hybrid role in Jersey City, NJ.
Responsibilities:
- Review and update HR policies to meet new federal and state legal requirements, promote a positive culture, and maintain industry competitiveness.
- Ensure the organization utilizes best-in-class automated HR systems (HRIS, ATS, etc.). Research available systems, participate in a competitive selection process, develop implementation plans, and manage software rollouts in collaboration with the IT team.
- Lead or support the development of engaging employee events that foster a positive work culture, including strategy, goal-setting, tactical event planning, and logistics.
- Continuously review, recommend, and gain buy-in for improving the organization’s staffing program to be an Employer of Choice (e.g., employee referral programs, recruitment metrics, etc.).
- Lead or support the continuous analysis and improvement of outcomes-based mandatory employee training programs, such as new employee orientations.
- Lead other special projects as assigned.
- Maintain work structure by updating job requirements and job descriptions for assigned positions.
- Counsel managers on candidate selection, conduct and analyze exit interviews, and recommend changes as appropriate.
- Prepare employees for assignments by establishing and conducting orientation and training programs.
- Ensure planning, monitoring, and appraisal of employee work results by training managers to coach and discipline employees.
- Schedule conferences with employees, address and resolve employee grievances, and provide counseling to employees and supervisors.
- Maintain accurate, auditable HR records.
- Contribute to cohesiveness and teamwork within HR and the company at large in the performance of all duties.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or a related field; Master’s Degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive Human Resources experience in multiple functions (staffing, compensation, etc.). Experience managing projects is essential.
- Proven knowledge of broad HR processes, programs, policies, and systems, preferably from a regulated industry.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Good project management and multitasking skills; ability to juggle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills; effectively collaborates with colleagues in HR and other functional areas, and with external vendors, to achieve goals.
- Advanced MS Office skills.
