What are the responsibilities and job description for the Warehouse Manager position at Sonoco?
The ideal candidate will have management experience in a manufacturing warehousing operation and experience in logistics. They will have demonstrated results in safety, quality, inventory management, process improvement, and driving process discipline.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Safety – Implement all PrOS and Corporate safety policies and ensure adequate training and proper compliance to these policies. Foster a culture of safety engagement such that people participate proactively and enthusiastically.
Quality – Ensure that all products shipped from the Warehouse meet customer’s stated specifications and that all orders are delivered on-time and in-full. Train and audits hipping quality expectations. Work with the service centers and customers to resolve any service issues from our plants.
Customer Service – Develop and maintain a dynamic and collaborative relationship with key personnel at the customer and service center facilities. This person will interact with customers daily and will develop the relationship so that they are supporting customer’s needs.
Key Performance Indicators – Ensure that all Warehouse KPIs are met and that variance from targets can be explained. Review scorecard and develop action plan for improvement. Safety, quality, on time delivery, past due, inventory accuracy, labor, VOH, freight will all have key metrics to ensure operational discipline and efficiency.
Administration
• Complete HR records and documents as necessary including attendance and efficiency tracking
• Administer weekly payroll procedures to include approval of time keeping in respective area
• Accountable for inventory management including monthly audits to ensure that all component values are correct
• Accountable for leading monthly financial FG inventory activities. Responsible for reporting inventory variances and managing associated actions.
Operations
• Hire and maintain adequate staffing level of department employees to insure that all elements of required work can be accomplished within the required time frame
• Lead and properly train all Warehouse employees in all aspects of safety, quality, and operations
• Plan daily and weekly shipping schedules based on customer demands
• Supervise all daily shipping processes to meet customer demands
• Plan and schedule all deliveries to customers and all outbound freight activities
• Manage inventory levels to targeted levels. Manage inventory to prevent “dead” inventory and minimize slow moving inventory
• Manage all Warehouse assets and overhead costs
- Manage Team in receiving all consumable good such as Nails, Glue, Bolts.
- Manage the site forklift fleet and associated Costs
- Manage the site waste management and costs
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
- Bachelors degree preferred
- 5 years of relative warehouse/logistics leadership experience preferred
