In addition to managing contracted custodial services and maintaining facility cleanliness, the Custodial Services and Security Compliance Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that students, staff, and visitors are in a clean, safe, and healthy environment through effective custodial and security operations and resource management.
This role will partner with the Director of Safety & Security, providing support to ensure compliance with security protocols within the corporation and providing backup coverage as needed.
Principal Characteristics of Work:
Frequent activities include short and long-range planning of custodial services, working with school administrators on related problems, visiting facilities to evaluate facility needs and services provided, and representing the corporation in dealings with vendors and contractors.
Types of activities performed occasionally: Representing the system in dealing with representatives of other governmental agencies related to custodial operations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Acts as liaison between the District management and the vendor (SSC) management for custodial services.
- Monitors ongoing contract-related expenditures and work scope to ensure that all contract commitments are met and work does not exceed budget allowances.
- Coordinate with external custodial service providers, including negotiating contracts, monitoring service quality, and ensuring compliance with agreed-upon terms.
- Works with the current vendor (SSC) to direct the District's custodial operations, which includes: planning, policies, procedures, cost-effectiveness, efficiency, cleanliness, attractiveness, staff development, and evaluation.
- Collaborate with the vendor to develop and maintain accurate records of cleaning schedules for different areas of the facility, ensuring thorough and timely cleaning, inspections, inventory, and staff training to ensure accountability and compliance. Ensure protocols are in place and maintained to comply with health and safety standards.
- Conduct regular quality control inspections of school facilities to assess cleanliness, identify custodial needs, document vendor performance, collaborate on action plan development, and promptly address issues.
- Conduct regular meetings with vendors to collaborate on timely & efficient delivery of custodial services and supplies.
- Directs the District's energy management program, which includes planning, communication, and cost-effectiveness. Works with vendors to ensure compliance with guidelines. Tracks, monitors, and verifies all related energy savings invoices.
- Oversees all energy-saving initiatives.
- Monitor custodial work orders using Maintenance Connect.
- Assist in developing and managing the custodial services budget, including forecasting expenses, tracking expenditures, and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
- Promptly facilitate and promptly and professionally address cleaning-related inquiries, concerns, and complaints from staff, students, and visitors.
- Manages all custodial services that are out of the vendor's scope.
- Identify areas for improvement in custodial operations, processes & equipment and implement solutions to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Manages vehicle assets (utilization, maintenance/repairs, registration, tagging, tracking, accident/incident, etc.).
- Manage Internal and External Facility Use requests ensuring proper documentation (including contracts) are in place before facility use. Ensure all facility use fees are collected before the event and posted to the appropriate account.
- Directs the development and recommendation of policies and procedures for the Buildings and Grounds Department regarding custodial services.
- Provide oversight of landscape and ensure grounds are well maintained.
- Coordinates with the Security Director to help direct the District's security and safety programs, which include planning, communication, risk management procedures, compliance with local, State, and Federal regulations, including the District's Hazard Communication Program, and asbestos operations and maintenance procedures.
- Conduct AED and Fire Extinguisher Audits
- Conduct Building Security Checks
- Serve as Emergency Response Back-up
- Assist with managing the threat detection units at events
- Support Safety & Security relating to training and development
- Preparing reports for CFO/Assistant Superintendent of Business and Finance stating trends, patterns, and predictions using relevant data
Qualifications:
- Required experience or training: A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Desired experience or training: Previous experience in custodial work or facility management is preferred, with at least 2-3 years of experience in a supervisory or lead role.

Pay: $79,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
