South Haven Brewpub is seeking to hire a full-time chef
South Haven Brewpub operates year-round. We do have a peak season starting memorial weekend running through the first 2 weeks of October. Typical peak operation is 7 days per week 11am – 11pm. During the rest of the year, we operate 7 days per week with reduced hours, 4pm-9pm weekdays and noon-10pm on weekends. We are a Brewpub with 18 taps of house made beers as well as a full selection of spirits, wine, and domestic beers. We have a great reputation for our pizza and our creative menu. We have indoor and outdoor seating operating about 100 seats in peak season.
South Haven Brewpub is seeking an experienced and creative chef to manage the kitchen, elevate our food quality, and help us grow. 2 consecutive days off guaranteed per week during peak season. Owner is involved in the daily operation. We are not corporate or a chain. Opportunity for creativity with food and house made beer. This is a year-round position. Possible relocation expense reimbursement.
Job Description
- Ensuring that all food is of excellent quality and served in a timely manner.
- Planning the menu, keeping in mind budget, and availability of seasonal ingredients.
- Overseeing all kitchen operations.
- Coordinating kitchen staff and assisting them as required.
- Training staff to prepare and cook all the menu items safely in accordance with Health code.
- Taking stock of ingredients and equipment and placing orders to replenish stock.
- Enforcing safety and sanitation standards in the kitchen.
- Creating new recipes to keep the menu fresh.
- Keeping up to date with industry trends.
- Receiving feedback and making improvements where necessary.
- Planning pairing and special event items.
Chef Requirements:
- Experience as a working chef, sous chef, or kitchen manager.
- Advanced knowledge of the culinary arts.
- Perfectionism in sanitation and quality control.
- Expert multitasking ability.
- Great leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to run stocktaking and place orders for resupply.
- Exemplary work ethic in a high-pressure environment.
- Passion and pride for delighting people with food.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $38,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
