Teller Job Purpose:
The teller receives and pays out money, as well as accurately keeps records of money and negotiable instruments involved in a financial institution's various transactions. The teller meets the needs of members by providing quality service.
Essential Functions:
- Receive and count working cash at beginning of shift.
- Identify members, validate and cash checks.
- Accept cash and checks for deposit and check accuracy of deposit slip.
- Process cash withdrawals.
- Perform specialized tasks such as preparing cashier's checks.
- Receive and verify loan payments and mortgage payments.
- Record all transactions promptly, accurately and in compliance with credit union procedures.
- Balance currency, cash and checks in cash drawer at end of each shift.
- Answer inquiries regarding checking and savings accounts and other credit union related products
- Attempt to resolve issues and problems with member's accounts.
- Explain, advice on and promote credit union products and services to members.
- Identify referral opportunities and make relevant referrals.
- Ensure compliance with all internal controls and established policies and procedures.
Basic Qualifications and Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 6 months of cash handling.
- Relevant computer skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Sales or customer service experience preferred.
- Knowledge of customer service principles.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a part-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Saturday, 7:45 a.m. to 6 p.m. 30 hours per week.
