Key Essential Functions And Accountabilities Of The Job
Provides preventative maintenance
Maintains systems, equipment, and tools as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor/Facility Manager.
Schedules and completes formal documentation of work completed including collecting data for entry into the PM program.
Performs basic mechanical troubleshooting and repair of systems and components. Troubleshoots and provides minor repairs of heating and cooling systems, boilers, plumbing systems, electrical systems and related equipment
Performs carpentry duties as assigned through written and verbal requests from the maintenance supervisor/ facility manager. Activities may include concrete work, floor coverings, installing doors, mounting cabinets, hanging items on walls, installing drop ceilings, drywall repair, painting etc.
Accepts and completes work orders assigned in a timely and professional manner according to priority
Provides locksmith services including installing and repairing locks, door closers, makings keys and working with lock cores. Responds to emergency access requests. Maintains records and adequate supply of materials.
Depending on location, maintains campus grounds including parking lot and entrance winter maintenance, summer lawn care, weed removal and gardening.
Identifies and tracks supply needs, orders supplies and tools, researches costs, and provides information for cost effective purchases.

Additional Details
Education, Certifications, and Licenses Required
High School diploma or GED – required.
Valid driver’s license and insurability - required.
Experience Required
1 year in any combination of vocational school, documented experience in the maintenance or maintenance mechanic field, experience in commercial, institutional environment or equivalent, or class and certification in a related field - required.
Knowledge of
Knowledge of how to operates various shop tools, and/or heavy equipment if applicable\
Knowledge of table saws, rip saws, hand operated drills, grinders, gas powered equipment including weed eaters, chain saws, various power tools, etc.
Knowledge of operating a forklift, dump truck and backhoe is preferred, but not required.
Knowledge of various mechanical systems as well as knowledge necessary to troubleshoot, and repair basic mechanical systems and equipment with limited supervision.
Knowledge of carpentry basics to allow for minor repairs and installations.
Knowledge of lawn, garden and general grounds care.
Skills In
Troubleshooting for mechanical and electrical systems.
Safe use of equipment, tools, manuals, and schematics.
Verbal and written communication that includes emailing or texting.
Ability to
Complete basic preventive maintenance, troubleshoot, and repair basic mechanical systems and equipment with and without supervision to complete preventive maintenance independently once trained.
Operate and maintain small engines and hydraulic equipment.
Safely work on equipment in unstable conditions, climb in and out of dump trucks, loaders, forklifts, and pick-up trucks.
Operate and maintain small engines and hydraulic equipment.
Troubleshoot and complete work assignments with limited supervision or assistance.
