Evening Shift
The transport technician, under the supervision of the Nurse Manager and Director, provides assistance to the healthcare team in performing safe patient transfers for transports to and from nursing units for services in other patient care areas. During times where no transport is requested will also perform pacemaker interrogation, provide telemetry monitor observation and deliver strips and lab specimens to and from nursing units as requested. Works within the guidelines and philosophy of SoutheastHEALTH and meets the needs of specific age groups

- Demonstrates the ability to correctly assist patients with physical activities such as transfers, bed mobility, transport and ambulation
- Accurately uses lift and transport equipment; adheres to infection control and prevention principles and standards with equipment use
- Knowledgeable of and accurately performs different weight bearing precautions and transfer techniques used with patients in varying diagnoses and procedures
- Assist with transporting patients within hospital setting while assuming care of the patient's physical and psychological needs during the transport
- Keeps urinary drainage bag below level of bladder when transporting patients with catheters; appropriate transport of any drains
- Transports specimens to lab from nursing units
- Answering telephone
- Perform EKG’s
- Accessible to staff and patients through transport team phone
- Direct, frequent interaction with patients and families; promotes positive customer service experiences for patient and families of various age groups, social and economic backgrounds
- Direct interaction with Nursing, physician and ancillary services personnel; works collaboratively and cooperative with the healthcare team
- Positions patient in positions of rest and ease being aware of their privacy and dignity
- Maintains current CPR certification
- Performs other duties as assigned

- High school graduate
- Experience in patient lifting and positioning preferred
- Must be able to read, write and speak English
- Starr certification required
