In this job, you’ll be responsible for overseeing the installation of Telecommunications systems and equipment throughout the SCE system, which are critical to the operation of the SCE electric system and key business functions enabled by the Company’s proprietary voice and data networks. You’ll ensure systems are installed according to standards and practices, in a manner enabling long term reliability, maintainability, and operability.

A day in the life - Get ready to think big, work smart and shine bright!
- Supervises bargaining unit (represented) Technician employees who construct and install the Company’s enterprise telecommunications network in support of major projects including internal IT projects and T&D grid projects (new substation construction, transmission projects, customer interconnect projects, etc.)
- Manages work schedules, ensuring that critical project operating dates are met. Identifies project impediments and risks and determines mitigation actions.
- Manages resources and expenditures to meet business objectives and operational needs. Makes, recommends and/or approves employment decisions (e.g., hiring, promotion, appropriate pay, rewards/recognition, succession planning, and termination). Manages employee performance for direct reports. Establishes performance expectations and goals aligned with Company objectives, policies, and procedures. Manages, trains, and develops staff by providing timely feedback, coaching and support. Demonstrates Company values through decisions and actions. Promotes the Company’s safety culture to ensure a safe work environment.
- Administers the IBEW Collective Bargaining Agreement, resolves grievances at the first step, and provides recommendations for escalated grievances; Ensures work group compliance with applicable safety and environmental policies and regulations.
- Handles escalated issues, resolves conflicts. Ensures compliance with Company policies and promotes the Company’s core values by leading by example.
- Manages and oversee contract installation forces, ensuring that SCE’s standards and practices are met. Performs installation and construction in support of the Edison Carrier Solutions organization.
The essentials
- 5 years of experience in the installation and construction of Telecommunications systems and facilities
- 3 years of supervisory or management experience
- Thorough knowledge of Telecommunications Systems, including Transmission Systems, Voice, & Data, and the role that this technology plays in the critical operational functions of the Electric Grid
The preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a technical field of study
- Experience supervising Bargaining Unit employees in the Telecom and Networking space
- Thorough knowledge of the IBEW Local 47 Collective Bargaining Agreement
- Effective resource and project planning, decision making, results delivery, team building, and the ability to stay current with relevant technology and innovation
- Strong decision making skills, identifying, and mitigating project risks, exercising sound judgment under severe time constraints
- Ability to manage large and complex schedules, balancing workload, and resources, and establishing work priorities.
- Ability to stay current with relevant technology and innovation, include all aspects within the field of Telecommunications, such as digital transmission, IP, Telephony, and wireless technologies.
- Ability to analyze complex data, draw relevant conclusions, and develop appropriate courses of actions.
- Ability to implement and optimize processes to achieve improved quality, cost, and time

- Work Mode: When a return-to-office date has been determined, this position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.
