JOB SUMMARY
The Manager, IT Support directly reports to the Manager, Application Development for Nuclear Technology Solutions (NTS). This position provides leadership and direction to a diverse staff of IT professionals and contractors, in support of Southern Nuclear Corporation (SNC) and the reliable and financially competitive generation of electricity. This position is also responsible for providing technology support, coordination and direction for Nuclear Technology Solutions.
The support of SNC is a 24x7 responsibility and requires careful and consistent management of the IT call-out process for on-call and off-call personnel. This includes managing and representing SNC’s interest relative to all aspects of lifecycle for IT infrastructure, applications, desktop software, personal computing devices and peripherals, telecommunications, cyber security, and support activities for plant specific systems and technology solutions that are outside of NTS direct control. Additionally, the IT Manager is responsible for successfully meeting and/or exceeding safety and reliability metrics, as well as effectively managing financial resources, including SCS functional and billing budgets within the SNC project capital budget. Other responsibilities may include management of assigned Technology/IT fleet projects and initiatives.
Broad technical and business backgrounds, as well as the ability to think strategically and act tactically, are important dimensions for success in this leadership role. Experience in power generation and specifically nuclear power would be advantageous.
Must have strong leadership skills. Must have blend of technical and business skills. Ability to direct and motivate team of employees to meet customer needs and achieve organizational goals. Ability to build relationships with customers, vendors and other IT organizations. Moderate travel may be required.
JOB REQUIREMENTS : (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills)
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology or related Engineering/Technical field preferred
- Master’s degree in Technology/Engineering/Business is advantageous.
Experience and Knowledge:
- Project Management skills such as planning, scheduling and budgeting are required.
- Fundamental knowledge of SNC core business functions and how IT adds value to these organizations. Experience in nuclear generation is desired.
- Familiarity with Cyber Security concepts and strategy relative to protecting electric generation and transmission and distribution facilities is advantageous
- Advanced knowledge of Information Technology business model
- Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and develop an inclusive, results-oriented team; able to develop employees and successors; ability to lead through change; effective performance management; exemplifies Southern Style.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES : (Primary responsibilities of the job)
- Manage and develop an effective, diverse workforce with highly technical skills. - Ensure all Nuclear Technology Solutions activities and systems are built according to approved IT standards and meet all NRC regulations.
- Manage the organization (24x7 operations) as a business with emphasis on reliable and secure operations for the computing infrastructure, communications systems, and applications; delivering high quality service that meets the needs of the customer in the changing business environment; ensuring financial performance and stewardship are at the core of all decisions
- Provide technology consulting and solutions to business problems to meet or exceed customer's expectations for functionality, quality, cost, and timely delivery.
- Conduct business in accordance with SCS & SNC policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., NRC, SOX, etc.).
- Ensure all IT investments have a written business case; been reviewed, approved and prioritized by the Corporate Project Review Committee – Information Technology (CPRC-IT) (Nuclear Technology Leadership Team); and have appropriate business unit sponsorship
- Ensure alignment with Technology Planning Analysts on all technology projects for resource allocation, schedule, and budget.
- Ensure a corporate, fleet or system-wide perspective is considered in all process design activities.

- The successful candidate must meet background screening and NRC fitness for Duty requirements.
