Job Summary:
This position provides leadership for plant operations, coordination of daily maintenance activities, and developer testing schedules. This position is accountable for supervising overall plant operations to achieve maximum availability, efficiency, and longevity of the equipment that is necessary to support the testing environment at the National Carbon Capture Center. This position will provide coaching through performance management for each member of the team, seeking to develop the employees’ skills for future opportunities. This position will also provide technical support to the Operations department which includes but is not limited to technical training, operator procedure management, operations bulletins management, and LOTO (Lock Out Tag Out) Administration. This position is primarily a dayshift position with potential for supplementing as a rotating Operations Team Leader when needed.
Job Requirements:
- Comprehensive knowledge of power plant operations obtained from experience in operations (five-year minimum operations experience is required).
- Knowledge must also include the technical aspect in respect to design concepts and limitations in relating to individual equipment or systems contributing to a safe, reliable, and economical power plant operations.
- Previous experience developing and/or conducting training is preferred.
- Previous experience writing operation procedures is preferred.
- Knowledgeable of company policies and procedures in the areas of safety, operations, hazardous materials, equipment, timekeeping, and other administration along with a thorough understanding of the contractual agreement between the company and the I.B.E.W. is required
- Ability to analyze critical situations, determine competent solutions and supervise the implementation of the solutions in a safe and effective manner is required.
- Ability to cooperate with and motivate personnel in organizing training, evaluating, and supervising the work of subordinates as well as interfacing with other departments and supervisors is required.
- Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing is required.
- Formal education or extensive power plant experience is preferred.
- Working knowledge of environmental, safety and OSHA regulations is required.
- Ability to serve as incident commander during emergency situations is required.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills is required.
- Computer Skills—proven experience using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, OIS/PIE, Maximo, etc.
Job Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the day-to-day operation of all equipment to maximize reliability and efficiency for developer testing. This position is primarily a dayshift position with potential for supplementing as a rotating Operations Team Leader when needed.
- Primary contact for coordinating daily operations, including LOTO, procedures, and training of operators, to Process, Design and Construction departments to ensure that developer testing schedules are coordinated and achieved.
- Responsible for effective performance-management of his/her crew including providing training, setting goals, giving feedback and coaching.
- Responsible for lubrication, filters, and general cleanliness of plant equipment.
- Must have a good working knowledge of all plant systems; know and understand current clearance procedures; be able to clearly communicate and write Operation Procedures and work with the Training Department and Process Engineering to ensure training of operators is performed.
- Coordinate operations activities with developer testing schedules, process engineering, and construction activities.
- Analytical Skills necessary to determine and troubleshoot current and future operating conditions and trends for optimizing equipment performance.
