The Manager Talent & Leadership Development (T&LD) empowers their Team to strategically cultivate the next generation of Southwest Airlines' talent by championing a Culture of development. This role will be part of many important initiatives and projects that will be launching throughout 2024 and beyond - including new Leader programs, development programs, and events with Company Leadership. This Manager prioritizes relationships, knows how/when to lean in and support, and guides and develops their Team for short and long-term success.

Job Summary
- Support Teams and Individuals who own highly visible Talent and Leadership Development strategies that support Companywide mission, vision and purpose. Serve as a Talent and Leadership Development expert, provide insight to help strategy become actionable, guide Team to sustainable and implementable solutions, and is responsible for overall deliverable success.
- Guide and lead Team members using SWA talent management practices to coach, develop, and engage Employees
- Model the Company values and competencies to foster a Culture of inclusion, recognition, and support of a safe work environment
- Invest in Leadership and self-growth through participating in continuous learning and development
- Balance business management as a working Leader with the needs of their Employees to ensure programs launch on time and on budget
- Accomplish department objectives by leading Employees, planning and evaluating Team goals
- Cast the vision and drive the strategy for their business areas in alignment with the overall portfolio strategy, and Departmental and organization strategy and vision.
- Represent their area of the business to all internal & external partners with executive presence and accuracy
- Maintain business acumen around the Talent and Leadership Development industry and guide Team to create best in class deliverables and processes in alignment with Southwest Airlines values and competencies
- Identify and implement needed adjustments to processes to support efficiency and effectiveness
- Bring clarity and a path to create specific action plans from broad objectives, and cascade to their Team to mobilize the strategy
- Encourage collaboration within the Team and with internal and external partners, model diversity by seeking out perspectives different from their own
- Support data-based decision making and adjustments to plans derived from feedback and analytics
- May perform other duties as directed by Employee's Leaders
- Knowledge of People Leadership best practices and Manager/Sr. Manager competency behaviors and expectations
- Knowledge of Talent and Leadership Development space
- Skilled at delegation and identifying the right Employee for the right task or project
- Skilled at coaching and mentoring (feedback, gap identification, individualized development planning)

- Ability to design and conduct analysis and synthesize recommendations
- Ability to assume a high level of responsibility and provide direction in a Team-Oriented environment
- Ability to meet confidentiality expectations pertaining to confidential, proprietary, and sensitive Company information
- Ability to effectively communicate and influence across all levels of leadership, including the Senior Executive Level
- Required: High School Diploma or GED
- Demonstrated experience in directly or indirectly leading team(s)
- Fully functioning, broad knowledge in:
- Directly or indirectly leading Teams, programs or projects
- Talent Management, Leadership and Employee Development, or Projects and Reporting

- Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
- Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
- Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job

- Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
- Must be at least 18 years of age

Pay & Benefits
Competitive market salary from $124,550 per year to $138,400.00 per year* depending on qualifications and experience, with opportunity for future pay increases based on performance and market movement. For eligible leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company.
