POSITION DESCRIPTION
Responsible for psychiatric services provided by Southwest Network clinical sites. Serves as a member of the executive leadership team and works collaboratively with the Chief of Clinical Operations, Chief of Quality and Compliance, Senior Directors, System of Care Director, medical staff, nursing staff, and site leaders.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION
In concert with and in support of the site Chief Psychiatrists, clinically supervises all psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants including contract staff. This includes participating in performance reviews and being available for clinical consultation and support.
Supports and participates in peer reviews, grand rounds, monitoring activities, mortality reviews, and corrective action plans, performance improvement projects intended to address the delivery of quality psychiatric care and identified standards of practice.
Participates in the recruiting and retention efforts. Responsible for promoting and role modeling practice according to the recovery model principles; knows and practices engagement skills including motivational interviewing; and ensures that psychiatric staff assist members to define and achieve their own recovery goals.
Providers back-up support for the Chief Psychiatrists in the review and signing of amendments and PAD petitions originated by nurse practitioners or physician assistants.
Participates in decentralized UM activities including pharmacy and inpatient hospitalizations.
Creates on-call schedule for network; appoints a designee in the event of non-availability.
Participates in all Quality Improvement activities involving medical professionals.
Identifies potential barriers to quality care and opportunities for improvement.
Coordination and collaboration with health plans and other provider organizations.
Participates in health plan Medical Director, statewide provider, and Credentialing and Privileging meetings as invited by managed care organizations and insurance plans.
Accurately and thoroughly documents all services and activities in the medical record according to policy using approved forms and electronic systems.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE, LICENSURE and CERTIFICATION
MD/DO with a specialty in Psychiatry
Licensed by the State of Arizona; Board certified; valid DEA certification required
Minimum of three years working with SMI adults and supervisory experience preferred.
Requires a strong community health/public health orientation, experience in patient care management, and all the qualifications of a psychiatrist.
Must maintain a valid Arizona state fingerprint clearance card.
Must have and maintain a valid Arizona driver’s license
