What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sports Information Director position at Southwestern College?
Reports To: Director of Athletics
The Sports Information Director is responsible for coordinating all aspects of the department's athletic communications office. This is an 11-month appointment (July 1 – May 31) with attractive benefits. Required are a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, photography skills, and familiarity with communication trends. Essential skills include writing, Microsoft Office and Adobe products. Knowledge of internet content management system and Presto/Blue Frame is preferred. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, organized, detail-oriented, flexible, and able to work as a member of a team.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Carrying out accurate statistical record-keeping of all sporting events and proper submission
- Supervising game day management staff and student-workers
- Overseeing and editing social media within the athletic department
- Managing, creating, and updating the athletic department website for proper content, including but not limited to staff/student profiles, game day scores, and schedule adjustments
- Collecting and submitting information for award nominations
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required
Preferred Qualifications & Special Skills
- Previous years’ experience as an SID or equivalent qualifications in a communications-related field
- Experience managing Presto or Blue Frame
