Overview
As the Procurement Manager, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing grocery product procurement and replenishment processes. You will lead a team of buyers, ensuring efficient sourcing, purchasing, and replenishment to meet customer demand (current and future) while optimizing inventory levels and maintaining cost-effectiveness.
Responsibilities
- Define sourcing strategies, including global procurement.
- Make sure that all relevant assortment is available, maintaining relationships with suppliers while continually scouting for additional vendors.
- Support private label sourcing.
- Negotiate with vendors to secure advantageous terms.
- Monitor market trends, industry developments, and supplier performance to make informed decisions.
- Work across the enterprise to secure correct product placement depending on market segments.
- Implement effective inventory management practices to minimize stockouts and excess inventory.
- Optimize inventory turnover and carrying costs to maximize profitability.
- Ensure in-stock positions and focus on high customer service levels.
- Utilize company procurement systems to maximize forecast accuracy and system performance.
- Work with the company legal department to make sure contracts and terms are favorable.
- Utilize data analytics tools to analyze procurement and inventory data.
- Generate regular reports and presentations on key performance indicators (KPIs) and present findings to senior management.
- Use insights to drive continuous improvement and enhance decision-making processes.
- Conduct cost analyses and set benchmarks for improvement.
- Lead and inspire team to achieve departmental goals and objectives.
- Supervise a purchasing team and delegate tasks across departments when necessary.
- Foster a collaborative and results-driven team culture.
- Provide guidance, training, and professional development opportunities to team members.
- Sets promotional plans for items and categories that increase sales to the consumer, satisfy vendor requirements and achieve the desired total net profits.
- Works on pricing strategy to achieve company sales and profit goals.
- Leads vendor relationships and vendor selection.
- Work with vendors on food shows and promotional magazines.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent experience in procurement, replenishment, or supply chain management, preferably in the wholesale or retail industry.
- Experience in Hispanic distribution, vendors, and/or grocery retail.
- 5-7 years of wholesale procurement experience
- Bilingual proficiency (English & Spanish).
- Talent in negotiations and networking.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Aptitude in decision-making and working with numbers.
- Experience in collecting and analyzing data, including spreadsheet (Excel) and data analysis software.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
