What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Operator II position at Span America?
Perform a variety of tasks to produce quality products, meeting or exceeding productivity goals, and operating machinery correctly.
- Perform the following necessary tasks to produce foam products: assemble, glue, cut, print, fold, press, inflate, seal, label and pack, consistently meeting or exceeding productivity goals.
- Verify that product is being made properly and conforms to quality standards.
- Minimize scrap through proper and careful handling of materials.
- Correctly set up and operate production machinery according to instructions.
- Accurately complete and maintain all necessary paperwork.
- Understand how to print and change labels using UDI
- Must be fully cross trained in 2-3 jobs within the department.
- Understand how to reprocess RMAs.
- Execute daily production schedule
- Notify supervision or maintenance of machinery problems or breakdowns.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
- Support Quality Policy, Quality System, and follow established procedures. Propose changes to existing procedures through supervisor, understanding that changes cannot be implemented prior to formal approval in the Quality System.
- Follow safety rules to protect yourself, co-workers, equipment, and facilities. Report unsafe practices and conditions.
- Assist in orientation and training of new employees.
- Participate in quarterly inventory as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervision.
- Perform basic computer functions.
PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This position requires lifting 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds, therefore proper lifting technique is required. This is a standing position and occasional bending, climbing, crawling, crouching, kneeling, overhead lifting, pushing/pulling, reaching, squatting and twisting may be required. The performance of this position requires exposure to the manufacturing areas and requires the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
High school degree or GED preferred
3 years employment as Production Operator required
