Tool and Die Maker (2nd or 3rd Shift)

Job Description

• Operate basic shop machinery (grinders, lathes, milling machines etc.) efficiently and safely.
• Proper use of hand tools.
• Properly use devices to measure parts and set up equipment (calipers, mics, shear, press brake, tape measure).
• Forklift and crane certification.
• Use drill press; counter bore etc.
• Work with leads, trainers etc.
• Make complex punches on grinder
• Align and set punches
• Rebuild nitrogen cylinders
• Basic spotting in try out press
• Check die guidance
• Set and check clearances on cams
• Troubleshoot production lines.
• Fully spot a draw die in tryout press
• Read and understand a ‘spotted’ panel
• Read and understand blueprints and complete engineering changes from a blueprint
• Understand and change material flow to prevent buckles and splits
• Weld and repair trim steels and draw beads and work back to original dimensions
• Good troubleshooting skills on tandems, progressive and transfer presses.

This position is for either 2nd or 3rd shift.

Qualifications

• Physical ability to bend, stoop, stand and repetitively lift, push, and pull 50 or more lbs. continuously throughout assigned work shift.
• Moderate physical effort required including sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, squatting & grasping.
• Must be able to work in varying temperatures.
• Ability to read, write and comprehend instructions / directions in English.
• Must be willing to always wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) on the production floor.
• Ability and desire to perform other duties as assigned as it relates to the scope and nature of our business.
