Scope
The Assistant Bar Manager will be responsible for managing a high-energy bar team to serve quality cocktails with impeccable customer service while adhering to our standard of service. This position will ensure that the bar and team operate smoothly from inventory to staffing to service, this person will make sure the beverage program can be successful. The ideal candidate should be comfortable being a hands-on and active manager - with guests and the team. This role reports to the Beverage Manager.
Responsibilities
- Oversees all bar operations for the venue
- Being visible in the operation, actively participating in service and daily operations.
- Selecting, training, evaluating, leading, motivating, and coaching all employees to ensure that established cultural and core standards are met.
- Controlling labor and operating expenses through effective scheduling, inventory, and cash control.
- Actively developing their beverage knowledge and instilling excitement and passion for beverage, and service in their team. Conducting regular education sessions for staff on product and service.
- Taking ownership of guest concerns and requests while acting decisively to ensure guest satisfaction when issues occur.
- Performing pre- and post-service checks; ensuring the bar staff are aware of cocktail selections and VIP guests.
- Maintaining the POS system and update printed and digital menus based on product selection and availability
- Ensuring adherence to policies and procedures, setting the standard for excellence in the venue.
- Monitoring quality of beverages and maintaining the highest standards of guest service.
- Monitoring and tracking inventory and preparing weekly and monthly orders as necessary.
- Inspecting bar equipment regularly and arranging for preventive maintenance as necessary.
- Performing open and closing procedures including reconciling cash and credit transactions to ensure accurate charges and balanced registers.

Requirements
- Minimum of 4 years working in a high-end bar or restaurant with at least 3 years managing people.
- Highschool diploma or GED. A bachelor’s degree a plus
- Hands-on experience and working knowledge of POS and bar management software, like Bread Crumb, Toast, and Seven Rooms
- Positive, engaging personality, and professional appearance.
- Exceptional interpersonal, listening, and communication skills.
- Ability to enforce company policies regarding the consumption of alcohol
- Able to stand and walk for up to 8 hours.
- Able to lift or carry up to 50lbs.
- Proven people management, motivation, and development skills to be an inspirational leader to your team.
- Well-developed interest in beverage, with the ability to remember and recall ingredients to inform guests and staff.
- Passion for ensuring you and your team deliver the highest standards consistently and ensuring that the guest is at the center of the experience.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in an always changing, never dull, creative environment that creates memorable moments.
- Exceptional work ethic, strong attention to detail, and a collaborative attitude and a can-do approach to any request.
- Able to work in a nightlife atmosphere with loud music and flashing lights.
- Must have a flexible schedule with the ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Following a conditional offer of employment, able to show proof of being fully vaccinated, able to get vaccinated within 7 days, or have a qualifying medical or religious exception.
- Willing to participate in employer-paid COVID-19 Mitigation protocols which include testing and onsite screening.
- Must be 21 years of age or older and have valid work authorization for the US
