Job Summary:
The Spine Team Texas Medical Coder is responsible for reviewing medical coding accuracy for both professional and facility claims. This position requires advanced knowledge of all medical coding guidelines including extensive knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT. This position requires full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of Spine Team Texas. The Medical Coder reports directly to the Revenue Cycle Manager.

Job Responsibilities:
The Medical Coder is responsible for reviewing and evaluating codes for accuracy and appropriateness, ensuring compliance with third party, NCCI guidelines and STT policies. When appropriate query physicians in procedures or codes that need correcting. Perform charge reconciliation of professional and facility charges posted to identify missed charges. Maintains frequent and regular contact with RCM Leadership and seeks consultation and guidance when appropriate. Personal initiative to keep abreast of new developments in coding updates. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment
Must be able to sit for long periods of time in a well-lit, air-conditioned office environment. Must have the ability to lift a minimum of 5 pounds. Must be able to work under pressure. Tasks involve no exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials.
