The Green Bay Kroc is getting ready to offer a fun outdoor summer camp for the Summer 2023 season, and we are looking for energetic employees who love working with kids! Job Objective:

The Summer Day Camp Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Youth Development Supervisor with youth programming within the Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center (RJKCCC).  The Coordinator will primarily focus on the 5-12 year old age range with oversight of youth programming during Summer Camp. They will utilize this programming to share the gospel, introduce young people to Jesus Christ, offer them a developmentally friendly environment, and lead them into the fellowship of the Kroc Center through a wide variety of opportunities.

  1. Plan, execute, and evaluate the Summer Day Camp program for youth 5-12 years old to include, but not limited to, programming in sports, recreation, music, art, and social categories.
  2. Plan, execute, and evaluate day and summer camps by developing activity schedules, managing personnel and volunteers as well as recruiting participants.
  3. Implement the Search Institute’s 40 Developmental Assets for Youth and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) into all youth programming to ensure a positive and developmentally friendly environment within all areas of the Kroc Center.
  4. Interact with youth, parents, and guardians to bridge families into Kroc Center programming.
  5. Plan, execute, and evaluate special events and programs that feature Kroc youth programs.
  6. Ensure national, territorial, and Kroc Center standards are maintained.
  7. Record attendance and program area usage figures are tracked using applicable computer software.

Minimum Qualifications:

The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal education, experience, knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required for this position. 

 

Education:       Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field.

Experience:     2 years of experience working with youth is required. Program planning and execution experience is required.

Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong management skills including experience in dealing with a diverse population.
  • Strong knowledge of the youth development cycle and the ability to program age-appropriate activities.
  • Skill in dealing with difficult children / parents / guardians.
  • Skill in utilizing good judgment.
  • Skill in using Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to successfully complete Safe from Harm and CPI training.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.

Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

 

Certifications: First aid, CPR, AED certifications and Safe from Harm and Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training will be obtained during the orientation period.   Employee must possess a valid Wisconsin driver’s license with clearance to drive from The Salvation Army’s insurance carrier.

 

Supervisory Responsibility:

The Summer Day Camp Coordinator will assist the Youth Development Supervisor in supervising 20-25 seasonal full-time Summer Camp Counselors.

The Summer Day Camp Coordinator will occasionally be required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle objects, reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee may be required to lift up to 40 pounds. Specific vision capabilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, normal depth perception, and the ability to focus.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

Working conditions will vary based on the activity being conducted. Some activities will take place indoors in a climate-controlled area while others will take place outdoors with varying temperature and humidity levels at the Green Bay or the Wisconsin Upper Michigan Division.
